I need a new battery for a campervan and have had a couple of suggestions which are on Ebay.

I'm just puzzled .. would folk here buy a battery online

Surely the postage is going to be pretty high, meaning this 'free post' is just added to the price.

I have an 1989 1.6 turbo diesel VW van

thank you for any advice provided

If the price online including postage is better than you can get locally then where's the issue?

As above and if you're buying from a recognised seller than I don't see what issue would be, certainly no different from buying from any other online seller.

I bought the last two batteries online: 1 for my old volvo @ half the price of Halfords for the same Yuasa Battery and £40 for one for my old Subaru, a no name brand. Both have arrived well packed and ready to go. No problems with either and a big saving.
Maybe for high spec stop start vehicles they may not be suitable but for mine they have been grand
  • Depends how much you value a warranty. If you're buying a decent Bosch one with 4/5 year warranty, I'd go to a bricks and mortar seller in case there were any problems down the line.
  • Yes, it was £23 delivered fully charged and took a few mins to install. Less than half than the local places charged.

For the same battery or a different brand?

carefully, with a courier and all the labels about it's acid filled nature.

I bought the 120Ah leisure batteries for my camper on Ebay, no problems so far, arrived fully charged in perfect condition and the seller answered my query about their vents wihtin minutes.
