  • Hi everyone,

I have manly stayed on track so far in October. My biggest win is lunch, I have totally stopped buying lunch out while at work. Not only am I saving money I've even lost a bit of weight.

I did a small top up shop during the week buying some milk and bread, it came to £1.58. I've been to ASDA today for the weekly shop and spent £22.83 but I forgot to buy any chicken so I will have to go to the shops again before next Saturday.

I've still got £15.53 left until the end of the month so I am quietly confident I can come in at or below budget on the 31st October,

.......... As it also contained leeks I think I'll do a big leek and butternut squash risotto tomorrow and that will do for a few meals next week. Can't stash in the freezer as running low on freezer safe tubs.........
I use tubs for freezing but then empty into labelled plastic bags once frozen. That way you can re-use the tubs and it gives you a little more space if the freezer is full.

    Evening folks

Spend today in A*di = £20.27. This puts me on £151.55/200 for October so on the right tracks atm :D

I have an order coming from Mr T next week, but there is some C stuff in there and lots of stock cupboard things. This is to use a generous £9 MOC and take advantage of some offers which finish on 24th. I'll have to see which comes out of bulk-buy when I get the order and bill.

Hope you're all having a great weekend

Hopefully I've done my last shop of the month 26.73 at Lidl and 24.49 at sainsbury on items Lidl doesn't stock. My total for the month should come in at 266.36 which is 43.64 under my target. I've also managed to do a fair bit of batch cooking in preparation for next January within my budget so doubly pleased.
  • Big shop this week: we needed a sack of bread flour ($25), coffee beans ($15) and a whole bunch of cleaning products. I'm at $808/$1050, though, which should be very doable if I'm smart with what I make.

    Meal plan

Sunday - Roast chicken and veg, which generated enough leftovers for chicken wraps for lunches tomorrow and save the carcass
    Monday - Gado gado salad
    Tuesday - Kedgeree
    Wednesday - Something with pork
    Thursday - Quiche
Friday - Chicken noodle soup probably?

  • Well we've had a truly awful week. My MIL passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly which has just turned our life upside down. FIL has been staying with us so any idea of sticking to a budget has gone out of the window. Going to get through the next few weeks and start again in November when the rawness will have hopefully settled somewhat.

Sorry to hear about your MIl chocoholic chick and your mum thrift wizard! Must be a difficult time for you and your families.

Thanks Lynnejk for the tubs to bags idea! I'll be using that!

Haven't updated my spends as such recently but last time I was at approx £89.

I've done an aldi shop since for about £35, a 5ainsbury's shop for £23 and another last shop at aldo today for £14 taking my total for September to £161/180.

This last shop today is for the week so not sure I should count it all, but since we have come under budget, I think I will but then delay my November to start from Saturday instead!

See you all in November 😀

Sorry about your news Chocoholic, hope you and the family are OK.

I cant do an exact total because I need to look on the other laptop and I cant be bothered to move but I reckon we are at about £320 for this month. Compared to some this is huge but for the four of us its not too bad.

I have been really careful and making economical meals like hm pizza or toasties on a weekend. Have had some success with some new recipes too. Not sure if I will get to November without shopping again but I will be as frugal as I can.

Mealplan for this week looks something like:
    Monday: Stew and dumplings
    Tuesday: Roast chicken dinner
    Wednesday: Chicken curry
    Thursday: Lasagne
    Friday: HM burgers or fajhitas

Sorry to hear that. Best wishes to everyone.

Popped in2 Tesco for some plant milk and rolls & got
2 cartons of rice milk for 34p (17p each), dated 17/7/18
4 packs of Kingsmill Thins @ 34p each
2 pks of multi seed rolls @ 39p each.

I don't go actively looking for ys, as it's not usually the type of food I eat, but this kind of thing happens to me ALL the time, not just with food, but with high price household items. It spooks me sometimes when I have a list in my head and I find all the items I'm looking for, for pennies. #uncanny. #TheLawOfAttraction - lol. I think I need me a 'Picasso' - I like him. Anywho, £2.48 spent. Have updated sig.
  • I'm very sorry for your loss Chocoholic! :(

We still did a little bit of shopping on Saturday (OH had to buy the new FIFA ... from his budget ;) ) and it came down do 16,94 €. One more shopping this month and I can already declare that we will DEFINITELY stay under the target :D
