If it really "states quite clearly on my policy document that the actual premium may go up", then that is incorrect. The premium you have already paid, which is the only one affected by the policy document, cannot go up.
The premium they offer at renewal may well go up, but that is only one of many you choose from in a competitive market.0 -
You seem to be confusing us about how excess works. (No-one will know what you are talking about!)I've discussed with Saga the high price and have been told that the price is high due to the fact we have zero excess to pay, so if anything happens, we don't have to pay a penny towards the claim. I also got some quotes from a number of other car insurance, quite surprised to find that if we pay excess, even though I am a named driver with my husband being the main driver, the companies would expect excess payment from both of us, i.e £100 would be £200 to pay. I wonder how many other people know about that.....
Earlier in the thread you told us you pay £80 excess including windscreen claims - now you say your premium is high to reflect you having nil excess??
Also you look to have misunderstood how excess is applied - in the event of a claim only one excess would be charged (even if you were to blame and both your car and the third party's were repaired by your insurer)0 -
Saga have a poor reputation for many of their financial products, often an abuse of trust being as they are only for older people.
I don't think you've got that right about the excess, never heard anything like that. So do you pay two excesses for one driver but only one if the other has an accident?
According to the Tesco quote I got, the named driver pays the excess on a claim and so does the second driver, at least that what the table implies?0 -

According to Saga, the £80 is mandatory but there is no voluntary excess requested. The other quotes I've looked at offer a voluntary excess £50, £100 or above on top of the mandatory excess they charge. Have I got it wrong, is the amount of excess you put on the quote, the only amount that you pay up front?0 -
It does depend on the insurer and the policyholder/vehicle etc.
Some do have compulsory excesses, others don't.0 -

To humour you, this is what it actually says...Guaranteed No Claims Discount
Whilst your premium may increase following an accident/claim even if you were not at fault, guaranteed no claim discount allows you to keep our no claim discount however many accidents/claims you have.
Call them on 0800 633 5880 if you would like to point out that it is inaccurate.0 -

When I renew each year, Saga come out consistently at or around the best buy for my car insurance (two cars), and their customer service is very good, in my experience.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0 -

It's probably that my particular circumstances don't fit their business model. They certainly don't like modified cars or younger spouses.0
