see i would do it and look for something different ...but i wouldnt deny my family food or a house just because i was too proud to work for scum ....i would only be there for as short a time as i could though and i would make sure i was fair with any people i dealt with ...that's gotta be better than mugging grannies
  • Hi Jacks. I would do it - I wouldn't expect it to be easy but I'd do it so that everyone I had to call, had someone nice on the end of the phone instead of one of the bully types.

I think at 19 that would be an excellent lesson for him and he would never entertain debt plus it is always easier to get a job in a job.

But ultimately it is his decision.

That's a great thought, fac, but I doubt it would be long untill your manager is breathing down your neck and talking about targets.
Still, your first week's 'clients' would appreciate your attitude.

    Yep.

    a) A job's a job.

    b) Someone's going to do it - it may as well be a nice, considerate person that will talk to people like a real human being.

Might be just the job for your Boyfriend's brother - he's certainly got plenty of attitude. :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Hi again sweeties!

Thank you all so much for responding - I'm glad to see there's a few different perspectives on this. I really wanted to get a range of opinions

We've been weighing it up all weekend, and my son's filled in the form and sent it in with his mate - but I'm personally hoping he doesn't have to take it if it's offered to him.

My first reaction when he told me about it was "NO-O-O-O-O-O FRICKEN WAY! They have a special circle of hell for those people! "

But then Hubby - ever the voice of reason - said at least he'd be one of the nice ones, it would be an education for him etc. Plus it's been a couple of months, he's applied for a hundred jobs and not even made it to an interview yet and he's finally had to bite the bullet and make an appointment with the job centre about Jobseekers allowance. (We're not proud.)

I'm worried that it will change him into a nasty person, that he'll get stressed out if people on the phone shout and swear at him - or if he's being too much of a pushover and not meeting his targets his bosses will breathing down his neck to be pushier.

At the end of the day the job is to extract money from people - many of which might be in a real mess, feeling vulnerable and susceptible to emotional pressure.

I don't want him preying on the vulnerable!

I don't really want him to be taught how to manipulate people, and press their buttons so that they capitulate to his demands.

My son just wants a job, and to be saving money and contributing to the household. He'd love to start up his driving lessons again and maybe even have a car one day. :D

He and his girlfriend want to get a place together. (She has a dodgy home situation, and they don't stay over at ours very often because my 12 yo daughter can hear everything through the very thin partition wall!)

    God it's a toughie.

Anybody know anything about feng shui?

Maybe I can boost his Career area and he won't have to do it? :D

Thanks for pitching in everybody. I'll let you know what happens

    Love Jacks xxx :D

Didn't we have a poster, last year, who went to work for Moorcroft, on doorstep collection. I'm not sure, but I think it may have been Kathfish - I hope she'll forgive me if I'm wrong.
Anyway, I know that she started off well intentioned - even plugging this site to her 'clients'.
It would be interesting to know whether the pressures of 'targets' got in the way of ethics.

    Wasn't me but yes, you're forgiven! ;):)
