Boiler Cover to Avoid 24/7 Home Rescue

Warning this company is a scam - 247 HomeRescue

More people need to be warned about this company. You will be told you can leave at any time but in fact you must pay high exit fees. You will be told you need costly repairs when in fact you don't and if you don't pay for them they will say you are no longer covered (but have to continue to pay). If you have a boiler service they will tell you about remedial work that must be done first and if you pay for that the service will be carried out and even more costly and unnecessary work will be diagnosed. You will be told your boiler is condemned and you can't use it even if it is fine and you will be left without hot water and heating for weeks if you listen ... so you will end up paying someone else or them and still paying your premiums. You will be insulted whenever you call them and told you are rude and you should have read the terms and conditions. You will Google the company after getting stung and then wonder how a company with so many negative reviews is still being allowed to trade and scam people. If you are lucky enough to see this first then don't sign up. It's terrible they haven't been stopped.

  • I reported 24/7 Home rescue to Trading Standards, nothing happened. Can't believe that they don't tell you there is a £75 call out charge for older boilers, it wasn't on the schedule but it is in the middle of a 30 page booklet of T&Cs.
Service received from their admin is as bad as their engineer visit and complaints dept. No interest in the customer. Atrocious company, avoid at all costs.Total scam, can't understand how they haven't been made to stop trading.
  • I'm totally in agreement with this. Even though 247 were aware of the make and age of my boiler, when asked to repair a basic part that can be obtained for just £25, they claimed that my boiler is beyond economic repair and made me pay £300 to get the manufacturer out to repair it (they essentially passed the entire cost of repair onto me).

247 'Home Rescue' are fraudsters. Avoid at all costs.
  • Well if I could rate this 0 star I would, this company is not worth the 1 star I have to give.
First of all a month or so ago I received an email offering 2 free months insurance FREE, So replied back to accept, well my 12 month policy finishes now, so was expecting my 2 Free months to continue, checked my bank account and they have took another payment out of my account, so 3 days ago I rung there customer service, When I asked why another payment was taken they informed me it was a auto renewal, as I received renewal policy details it went from £16 to £24 so thought am not paying that, I normally change insurance every year as you are aware there is no loyalty staying with same company, so if it was a auto renewal why was it still £16 they could not answer, when I informed them I had 2 FREE months extra cover they told me it was for my car, I said no I had been sent email for boiler they had no records of it, so after phone call I sent screenshot of email of confirmation, I sent it to a kalebh AT 247homerescue.co.uk but he is now completely ignoring my emails. Now the last 3 days I have been trying to get through to customer service, 20, 30, 45 mins on hold to get through at the third time spoke to this Kalebh and and queried the money taken out he could not find nothing re 2 FREE months, as I had not sent email with proof (until after we ended phone call) I instructed him clearly to cancel policy when it ran out on the 24th of November as I was paying for extra month, and asked him to send me confirmation immediately well 5 mins after phone call I got email stating he had now cancelled policy completely, so phone calls are ‘recorded’ so hopefully trading standards will demand to listen to them, when I hung up and found email I sent it to him at his personal email address and received nothing back, ad it was proof I was entitled to 2 extra FREE months cover, and I wanted the refund £16 paid back to me. So overall the telephone scam of on hold for near 3 hours over the last 3 days has finally persuaded me NEVER to renew with this company, when I first told them I was leaving because of the price shooting up from £16 to £24 he told me he would reduce it for me but I have wasted my dinner breaks the last 3 days trying to speak to these but it was so frustrating waiting, when I first spoke to Customer service they could not explain why extra payment was taken from my account and could not authorise cancelling my policy, hence them putting me through to wait on hold 20, 30, 45 minute wait. So in my messages I stated if I get no reply back by Monday will instruct my bank to refund money back and will be in touch with my local trading standards.
Oh and the free boiler service I received, the engineer advised me (scare mongering tactics) to get a carbon monoxide gadget, which he had in his van for a nice little earner, I obviously declined, and will now get my boiler checked properly as am not sure if anything was adjusted when he serviced my boiler, overall this company is WORSE than 1 Star, shocking customer service and even worst trying to get through to there cancellation dept. stay clear I WILL NEVER EVER RENEW WITH THIS LOT EVER AGAIN
Another addition to this saga, I received in June an email from 247homerescue, regards extra 2 free months for car breakdown, I presumed it was with my current insurer, and accepted it as with the boiler scam, was checking bits of paperwork at home, and I found my breakdown cover who I was with ‘Rescue My Car’ so checked my statement and realised that I had no previous breakdown cover with 247 but as I had boiler cover, they scammed me by sending out email for 2 free months, after the 2 free months because they had my bank details they started to take monthly payments out and checking bank details I just rung them up, got through to someone explained I did not need breakdown as I already had it, as the offer was a extra 2 months I presumed as stated it was from my current reputable breakdown cover, but as it turned out 247 were using my details from boiler cover, chap on the phone said he would cancel it at 1110am this morning when I rung, and send me confirmation email via email within 10 mins....’I’m doing it now’ he stated, asked him for his name for ref, he said it will be on the email, I asked again he again stated it would be on the email, I then asked the THIRD time, saying are you refusing to give me your name, he then said his name was KALEB.....the same person who I referred to in earlier details of this message. I had sent email to KALEB regards cancelling boiler cover on Friday...I actually sent it 30 odd times, he replied back wasn’t happy I resent same message, I told him I wanted clarification as his wording was not clear in previous message, he never did reply back, hence why he never replied back today after our phone (these calls may be recorded) call at 1110am. Just rung them back again at 1316hr and spoke to a nice lady Hannah told her what has happened and never got confirmation from KALEB, he was on his lunch break, she would tell him to do it on his return or get someone else to do it for him. Just checked my emails and I got a reply back from KALEB he has sent me confirmation of cancellation for Boiler Cover & NOT WHAT I ASKED FOR WHICH IS THE CAR BREAKDOWN RECOVERY, so have just sent a message to him...so what a pulava this is turning out to be, want both policies cancelled but, customer service is shockingly bad from KALEB! Will await any updates. Currently in dispute still as policy finished/finishing last payment 8/10/17 policy expires 24/11/17 but I got 2 ‘Free’ Months deluxe cover.......so shouldn’t that expire 2 months time? But they took another payment this month on 8/11/17 my policy that is due to expires clearly has on direct debit mandate last payment due on 8/10/17 but they took another payment! DO TRADING STANDARDS READ THESE FEEDBACK, saves me having to explain it all again when I contact them? And will inform MONEYSAVINGEXPERT.COM where I got details from to get policy last year, am sure he will not be happy regards the free car breakdown and taking money sneakily!
21/11/17 Today received message from BRAD he has informed me money was taken on auto renewal, Now renewal details were sent to me, with big hike in price as stated previously, so had to ring to decline which I did. As Ive taken up the option of 2 FREE MONTHS DELUXE COVER, which I am currently in, but apparently 247homescam have informed me it finished 24/11/17 how does that work out then, if my last payment of the 12 months tariff (£16) was taken in October, and I declined the new policy (£24) which was due to start in Nov 8th why have then took £16 out on Nov 8th during my 2 FREE MONTHS PERIOD? Be aware terrible customer service, long phone calls to get through to speak to anyone.....when you want to cancel policy.
Also when they send email regards renewal they ask you to login to view new policy as I did, now when you login, it comes up ‘you have renewed’ this is trying to login to view beaware, NEVER EVER AGAIN WOULD I GO NEAR 247homescam

  • This has been one nightmare after another.
I would strongly recommend anyone to avoid this company. Unfortunately, the TrustPilot review website for 24/7 should be seen as false. About 3 months ago, I was offered a free month direct debit if I put a good review on there. Since then, my boiler broke with an ignition fault. It needed an electrode (£25 spare part). It cost me £75 to call an engineer and then eventually another £100 to get a BAXI engineer. In the mean time, my subscription was raised from £16 to £26.50. The first I knew was when I saw the direct debit. I have phoned to cancel but that will cost me another £144. In general, customer service is terrible, their third party engineers have no idea (I used three engineers for the same fault with none of them saying the ignition was the problem even though the fault code was “ignition fault”. The last one said it needed a gas valve, which was a £25 spare part. 24/7 said that replacing it was beyond economic repair as it would be 4 hours labour and would be over £340. My only option they said was to pay extra to get a proper Baxi engineer. Of course you pay because it’s winter with young kids. BAXI fixed the igniter in half an hour. The bottom line is that they are a scam, customer service is terrible, no one ever calls you back, no managers or supervisors will talk to you and they don’t cover you for an electrode so good luck if you have a serious breakdown!!
  • I am having the exact same issues as others.

we have boiler cover with them which includes part and labour and they are trying to charge us for the parts the boiler needs.

This company needs to be taken to task as this has to be illegal what they are doing.

In the meantime i'm left with no hot water or heating.

and no idea whether they are coming back to fix the boiler or not.

I also can't cancel the policy as when you get put through to cancelations they put you through to someone else who then cuts you off.

  • What do they cover???

I took out a service agreement with 24/7 home rescue in sept 2018 for £7.68/month. I initially had difficultly booking a serivce due to working shifts. One was booked for 31/10/18 between 08:00 and 17:00hrs. The service engineering called at 12:37 hrs on 31/10 to say he was 15 mins away. He arrived and showed him where the boiler was located. He began to serivce it whilst I waited downstairs, during the serivce I heard a lot of banging and crashing coming for my loft area where the boiler is located along with swearing such as “for “F” sake” from The engineer. This was repeated numerous times. I initially disregarded it but after repeating more and more I though there must be a problem. I asked the engineer but nothing seemed to be up. He then mentioned that the case seals needed replacement at £95, and put in an order on the work phone, I was called 10 mins later and made payment via card. The boiler was put back together and the engineer tested the boiler & heating , there was problem, it wasn’t working. I informed him that the heating was on that morning until 07:00 hrs and went off as I don’t have the heating on all the time due to not being there home due to work. I had undertaken the washing up prior to the engineer arriving so know the heating/boiler was working . He suggested that maybe the heating wasn’t working at all before he arrived, and further more stated that he should have tested it before finding it didn’t work. Suggesting maybe I was lying!! He then banged and crashed some more and took the boiler back apart and apparently found that the pcb board was not working this no heating / hot water but it was covered on the service agreement. He then turned the boiler off, completed a warning notice, and put back the boiler together (although I feel that satisfactorily as looking myself now the outer casing is all loose). He then left. I was called then at 11:30 on 1/11/18 regarding the case seals and that you could not get hold of them and if I would like a refund and get a third party to fit them. Then a further call at 15:42 hrs today stating that the pcb board was not covered and it would cost £400 to fix, this all has left me with no heating/hot water and very very annoyed.

    1. I am not happy with their service provided as feel that the engineer has been heavy handed and caused the damage to the boiler thus making the boiler / hot water system not working during this cold weather.

    2. Foul language is not appropriate in a customers home, regardless of any issues/problems that he/she may have, especially in a customer service lead industry.

    3. I’m left with a broken system, no heating or hot water and having to find a reliable/suitable repair agent to fix the problem at my own cost.

    4. I’m lead to believe that the pcb board is a major component, however not covered and is a remedial part, how can that be if damaged by the engineer.

    5. I feel let down by the serivce and lack of quality of service without encouring any more financial penalties.

One company to avoid, going back to British Gas, n-power or Homeserve !

Omg where do I start..*PLEASE READ UPDATE*

Omg where do I start... we have had a contract with 24/7 for 12 months. I received a phone call two weeks ago offering me a service on the boiler. They also offered me, for £35 ....the option to have an inhibitor applied. I agreed and paid out the £35. Engineer arrived on Friday the 26th of October. Nice lady. checked the boiler, then applied inhibitor to a radiator as she said she was unable to put it into the boiler. She then went back to the boiler and replaced the cover. May i just point out that the boiler had been working absolutely perfectly up until the point the engineer arrived, and we had hot water and heat with no problem. As the engineer left my property she stated that the boiler was in perfect working order with no problems whatsoever and that there was years left in it. Her words...not mine. 10 minutes after she had left the property the boiler started to make a strange sound. There was also a flashing on my hot water light. I assumed it was simply making a noise because she had taken the cover off. I decided to monitor over the weekend and to call them on monday and discuss. By Monday morning we have no hot water and no heating!!! I rang 24/7 and was promised that an engineer would contact me the next day. Nobody did.and so on Wednesday morning I contacted them again and was told engineer will be in touch with me same day. Sure enough an Engine contacted me on Wednesday afternoon. He came to the property at 3 p.m. and stayed around 10 minutes. He got the system working again and left. 10 minutes after he had left it was not working again. I rang him on his mobile and asked him "can you come back"and he told me I should not be ringing him on his mobile and for me to contact the Office. I contacted 24/7 and was told they would make it a priority the next day to have an engineer out again. I've waited all day today for somebody to phone and nobody has. I have rung 3 different numbers Eventually I spoke to a manager in technical department, he told me that having looked at the second engineer's report, the boiler is Condemned as the fan is too badly damaged. I could not believe this. My central heating system was in perfect working order until the service engineer came to our property!!!! She had said nothing of a faulty fan!!! It is obvious that something has been done during the service. After ringing another 2 departments this afternoon, and relaying my story for the 9th time, and nearly crying/screaming in frustration..i eventually spoke to a manager...guy called aaron. Aaron, the manager at technical department, offered me a new boiler as he said it would be too expensive to fix my old one!!He said we could have a new boiler for £599 labour charge only and the boiler would be free "we dont give free boilers away all the time you know,". He said. All seemed a bit fishy and a bit too good to be true to me...so i asked him to email me all of this so that I could check it over. I have just received the email and what aaron failed to mention...is that there is also a £40 per month 7 YEAR CONTRACTED service charge!!! lol!!!!!. So.. the boiler is not actually free, it ends up costing me over £3,000. SCAM!!!!!! I am now having to pay for another plumber to come to the property tomorrow and have a look at what damage has been done AND WHAT I CAN DO TO RECTIFY IT.
i will be seeking advice from solicitors as I have read on MSE forums that I am not the first person this has happened to. And there are numerous scarily similar tales!!! can I also point out that I have a child with special needs, autism and wets the bed most nights she has been without heat and hot water for what will be 5 days tomorrow .....Absolutely disgraceful. Do not use this company at any cost. thankfully I have not lost too much..But I will stick to British gas in future ..
even if it's twice the price

Unable to go any further without heat or hot water, we decided to bite the bullet and pay for an independent plumber. Rang him on Thursday night after reading all the horrendous reviews about 34/7 HOME RESCUE on MSE forum, property tribes, trustpilot etc etc. He came out within 24 hours of our call. ( Far better service than we had from 24/7, to whom we have paid a monthly fee for this service!!! What a joke.)
He took a look at the system, showed us that the fan was sticking, could not really explain why or how this has happened since the engineer had been out as it had worked perfectly well until she came. He replaced the fan in 10 minutes, at a total cost of £140.
Yes £140....which included his labour!!! My boiler is now working as it was before the original engineer came, lovely hot water and heat throughout the house. No noises ...no flashing lights. I am APPALLED....LIVID...that 24/7 told me my boiler was Condemned. What is that telling you about either the engineers that visit your property or, the call handlers and so-called managers!!....Who then try and sweettalk you into having a new boiler with 7 year contract and labour charge that adds up to £3959!!! I have been lied to...quite simply lied to and conned. And I am not letting this go until whoever has lied to me is brought to justice. It's not about the money I have spent over the past 12 months, it's not about the £140 that I have spent on another plumber...this is about a disgraceful service, being without a working system for 4 days when I have paid for cover, and quite frankly and best of all, being told i have an economically unrepairable "condemned," boiler.
