    Morning all,

SFD number 11 yesterday. School work for most of the day (didn't get nearly enough done though) then mowed the lawn and had dinner at my parents :)

Today should also be a SFD but tomorrow I'm going to invest in a winter coat. I haven't bought one for years, although I have a thick waterproof so looking forward to having something snuggly but nice to wear out as the nights get colder.

    Have a great day everyone

  • Morning,

As expected not a NSD yesterday but low spend as only paid for two cokes while watching the match.

Think as this is the first time in ages I have been tracking my spending so closely I have been surprised at how much I spend on certain things - treats in the grocery shop being a big one. Not good for my wallet or my waistline!! Need to be stricter with myself as then can put the cash towards things I actually want and not just a quick sugar hit.

Wondering if using some sort of way of recording what I would have spent on junk food and having a target for the money would help. Don't want it to be too big a goal though as if I never get there that is just depressing as well. Maybe a proper pedicure or something. Will have to have a think as it means the money is still spent so not really in the MSE spirit.

Anyway new week so going to reset and get back on track.
  • Hello, sorry for my usual weekend absence. Just skim read the previous posts and will read properly later. Hope you all had a good weekend anyway.

Spendy one here. No SFDs achieved. Had FIL over and did the biggish shop. Ordered some leather to make leather lilies for DH (make him his favourite flowers out of the wedding anniversary material, so far he's got paper and cotton ones, this year is leather). Copper and wood should be interesting ;).

Got some weeding done and the usual chores (only to be told that I look shattered by DH who sat on his ar*e all weekend). Oh no he did one thing, he cycled down to the bike shop to get the gears adjusted and cam back with a broken chain, so I had to go and buy a new one and show him how to fix it today. grummmel.......

Kids brithday party yesterday which was in a super noisy church hall and then a couple of glasses of wine to relax at night time to celebrate 13 years together (my mum had to remind me as I know only remember our wedding day :O which is Wednesday).

So much from me so far, catch up again later

    Have good day

    Apologies for not posting.

Basically didn't feel like lunch in work on Friday but I ate it anyway. Smoked mackerel - nothing wrong with it but somehow set acid reflux off whereas couldn't sleep all night, each time I lay down felt so sick. So sat up most night. My fault eaten spicy food, chocolate, oranges and a glass of red wine the day before - apparently they are all triggers. Ended up sleeping all day until 5pm.
I have lost 6lb in weight over the weekend on the plus side given me the kick I needed to rethink my diet, too fatty, too many large portions. Ate plain baked potatoes with veg all weekend.

Treated myself to a new dressing gown to cheer myself up yesterday and some trousers for work. I always wear dresses and think cheaper than buying tights, leggings in the winter.

Ratty in work today as trying to cut down on caffeine and someone keeps passing every phone call through to me, most are not my department. Roll on hometime.

    Grateful for
    Sun coming out
Feeling heaps better than last few days
Just off loaded lots of work onto someone else - not feeling bad as they get paid double my salary.

    Hi Scrimpers,
    Check-in 18/30
    SFD 6/18
Beauty spend - still at £6.50/£10
Exercise goal - Almost certainly won't hit my step goal today & I couldn't care less, as am busy doing stuff, just not very step-based.
Other useful stuff: Finished my new door curtain. Swerved a big spend by recycling an old Indian bedspread to make it & it's now up & looking good. Only spent £15 on a Wilko's curtain pole/rings. Curtains & fabric I looked at possibly buying were £50 to £55 so that's a definite saving & made more room in the linen cupboard too as that bedspread just lived in there doing absolutely nothing to earn its keep. Laundry blowing dry outside for free. Knitting 2nd project ready for craft stall. About to prep an item which might be sellable on ebay. Going to crack on with that now.
    Cheers all,
    F x

  • SFDs - 10/18 .. think I can hit the target if I'm sensible now. The bank balance is looking better than it usually does at this time of the month..think no spends are having a direct effect so very chuffed about that! Should be able to put the max in the help to buy ISA this month and have a bit left over even, woop woop!

Hope everyone had a successful day! X

    SFDs - now 9/18.

Extra monies/ debt repayment - None. I did work at job#3 today - so when I put in my hours sheet that will go towards either kitchen fund or repaying holiday on 0% CC

    Food - running total £266.83/ £450

Eating up/ using up stuff - all meals from home today. Had leftover roast chicken in a roll at lunchtime, with mayo & sweetcorn (also lo -have frozen the rest to make sure it isn't wasted) No real idea what to do for dinner tonight :o:o - I may have leftover cauliflower cheese from yesterday with a jkt potato. I believe DD is using up something which is peculiar to her from the freezer. Boys are having pasta. That just leaves awkward OH.

Lunches taken - 3 packed lunches for boys today. I ate when I got in from work at 1.30. DD and OH were already at home.

Social life - None today :)

Exercise - Crazy morning at work - I had done over 9k steps by 1pm and fitbit also shows 142 active minutes :) I'll take that as enough for today!

    Beauty - £2.73/ £10

Time for self - Will have a relatively early night. May go for another bath as I'm very stiff & achey. Either way, I'll read some more of the book I started last night :)

    Heating off - yep.

    Gratitudes:
    * Work - unusual time of year for some extra hours :T - but means some extra money when I claim the time :)
    * getting a full load of laundry line dried :)
    * DD hanging out washing whilst I was at work
    * DD doing DS3 school pick up :T
    * yummy lunch from leftovers
    * DS3 being in the most delightful mood
    * no rain

  • Today has been a NSD - I'm thankful for that. Plan on another four (on the trot) to give the NSD a push. Not sure I'll meet target but want to get as close as I can to it!

Made my lunch last night so had that ready to take to work then s morning. Making mushroom risotto for dinner, not sure if there will be any leftovers but if so, it will be an easy lunch for tomorrow! It depends on how hungry the OH is.

The heating is still off and I had a lovely relaxing bubble bath last night. It's definitely colder though - jumper and slippers are out. Washing isn't really drying on the airer now so I will have to be inventive (although will probably have to put more in the tumble dryer).

I am grateful for a good Monday. Had a pleasant day at work.

    Got another SFD so 10/18.
    Exercised by walking 20 minutes.
Read my book. Started a new book today from books I already have.
Brought my lunch in today to work.
    Using food already in.
Have decided to let my hair go grey and not to dye it anymore. Will save time and money. Will see how it will look.
    Grateful for:
Being on the bus when there was a big down pour.
Not raining when I was walking.
For free tea and coffee in work.
For a church being open on route to work, went in for a short while as I was early for work.

Another SFD. Went to mum's early as I was expecting a call about insurance for the holiday but they had already phoned. Took painting clothes and started on the concrete fence posts. Insides of 2 done (but most complicated as there is a sharp angle turn with two posts nestled into each other). Luckily I found a long narrow brush with an angled head in the shed.

Started to rain as I was doing the first stretch of base board, made a special paint brush holder from a milk bottle, put the brushes and wellies under the garden table by the patio doors and waited. Mum has another plant (small tree) that she wants taking down so did a bit of that.

Early start tomorrow as we have a hospital visit (8+ miles away). Taxi booked. Very tired.

Grateful for meals from mum's freezer, not making too much mess painting (normally manage to get it all over me, especially my hair, being able to do a deep squat to saw the tree at its base - only for a couple of minutes at a time but it's progress (couldn't do it a couple of weeks ago - nearly 3 years on from my hip replacement and I am still finding new things my body will do now.
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.
