Barclays Online Stockbrokers Account

Anyone having difficulty getting access to their accounts online. I was told by email they would be sending a membership no either by post or email but have neither

  • You're not missing much - it's hideous. I'm a Barclays customer of many years' standing, so I had no trouble getting in as I already have online access, but it's truly, spectacularly awful. I'm very inexperienced (only started investing in shares last summer), but even I could make sense of what Barclays Stockbrokers showed me. A lot of that information is now missing or buried. I've seen the new platform described elsewhere as "clunky". That's an understatement. I hate it and will probably move.

Guessed it would be awful Soggy Moggy from the brochures they sent out just don't seem to understand what their customers want.

I have a significant sum built up now isa/sipp/marketmaster and can't get access to my account to buy or sell or even customer services. I have made an online complaint and they say the automated reply said will get back to me in 5 days aside from the extra costs they are now imposing they seem to have cocked up the IT and Customer service.

The sipp is a badged AJBell product then that is an easy switch on paper but isa/share trading given the sums involved are more difficult so probably look at HL or an old fashioned stockbroker service like Redmayne Bentley/killick/Pilling who understand the business might be the answer but they aren't the cheapest.

Well I aborted a telephone call to the help centre after 20mins on hold. Raised around half dozen complaints, started losing track of complaints raised, that I need to raise a complaint on the complaints system.

Keep getting need a new browser page, when I have latest firefox and chrome browsers, get same problem with both.

Get blanks pages for various things. Sometime with top and bottom headers, other times not and have to use browser previous page, as nothing to navigate with.

    Can't make payments-in to accounts.
    Can't make withdrawals from accounts.
    No more RNS news.
    Navigation very bad.
    No downloads any more.
Can't view dates of purchases, means working back through transactions - of coarse quicker if you can download into file and search.

I may after some effort have access, there is something about PINsentry that came up, to login but not been given a card or reader for that, not sure if these are in the post or not.

From the lack of reply at the help desk, also tried there web chat, but that was down due to high demand - wonder why? The switch over to "Smart Investor" maybe.

Seen a tweet saying that the poster had raised a complaint, which was now in a 40-day queue. Might be best not to hold your breath :wall:

I didn't care for the price hike so am in the process of moving to IWeb. The chaos seems to validate my decision. I have been receiving all sorts of emails and glossy brochures about the new service. I do have the membership number and the passcode. They neglected to mention my need for a secret word. My Barclays Stockbrokers one doesn't work. After an hour in the queue I decided to give up. My transfer to IWeb is also very slow. Apparently they're very busy on transfers. I wonder why.

You should have received four letters by post:

    Telephone ID
    Telephone PIN
    Online ID
    Online PIN

I got all mine about a week ago.

And, as SoggyMoggy alludes, it's a crock of cack.

Thanks pvt I am down the two, telephone and online id suspect they were sent out about the same time like the pins were and have gone missing somehow. Probably they will need to get them reissued thats when I get to speak to a human.

I've been using this service for about 25 years, started when it was Schwab and subsequently taken over by Barclays.

I quickly spotted all the missing functionality that Taylornj listed above, and add to that the lack of ability to see the UK and global indicies, or the percentage change on the day for equities. Though it's always possible they're buried somewhere in this unnavigable nightmare.

I am now frightened to navigate around too much because I keep being inexplicably kicked-out and having to log back in again.

I don't have any other Barclays products, is their online service this bad for bank accounts and other products as well?

How can a company like Barclays so spectacularly fail to understand what their clients need?

If it's any help my PINs arrived a couple of days before the IDs did - very confusing because the letter with the PIN says "contact us if you haven't received an ID yet".
