Well, I've survived the dentist! No telling off, just some appointments with the therapist (same as a hygienist?) to dig out all the dirt so we can see where we are :D Oh, and a filling that needs replacing.

He also raised the topic of sorting out the mess (my words, not his!) of unaligned, overbiting ugliness that is my teeth. I was just about to ask, but he beat me to it. I'm really keen on getting it sorted as I've never been happy but as I would need to do it privately I have to think quite hard about it. Even an initial consultation with the specialist would be £150, but at least I would know what all my options are. I know I want to do it, just need to save the money.

The dietitian and I agreed this morning that things are going well, and that any further tweaks should be left until the GP and I have worked out the sleep/ tiredness angle.

I've also confirmed that my balance transfer has gone through, so just over £1000 is still attracting interest, the rest is at 0%.

Well, after a few days visiting my parents, I came back home on Friday night. It was great catching up with them, mostly pottering and eating, but I think mum and I both benefitted from a bit of a chinwag :A

Yesterday and this morning felt productive, and I feel in a position to start getting back on top of things. Although its not even 9pm yet and I'm in bed (again) with a stinking headache (again), so who knows. It's funny, I haven't felt this way all week, but the closer I get to going back to work the worse I feel. Must be the toxic atmosphere :D

In better news, the grocery budget looks like it will come in under budget for October so that's an overpayment waiting to happen :j

  • Hi helsbell

It's good you enjoyed your time with your parents. Perhaps you needed the downtime without the additional responsibility for the girls.

Going back to work after time off is always a bit of a worry, isn't it?

Have you made any plans for November? I can't believe how much colder it has suddenly got. Some beautiful sunsets though.

I hope yesterday wasn't too bad.

    I think you're spot on there :D

To be honest, it's been a rubbish week. I really enjoy my job, which makes it all the more frustrating when other people do everything they can to make it a nightmare for everyone. There are more resignations and sickness than I've ever seen, all from really good staff, too

I haven't made any plans yet, but I do need to. Must arrange a weekend with my friend on the other side of (our tiny) country.

I think there's only you and me here :rotfl: But I will, I will

Yesterday I went to buy milk so I could treat my girls to hot chocolate. Unfortunately, I took them with me so I came out with milk, oranges, apples and triple chocolate muffins  Can't really blame them, they weren't badgering me much. I think I was just in that kind of mood. :o

Today, on the other hand, was an NSD :money: Oh, and I did make amends yesterday by doing YNAB Wednesday properly for the first time in ages. I also claimed a £5 Amazon voucher from SB and set up a Circle account, allowing me to claim a little over £20 from PA today :money:

Slightly frustrated at spending 20 minutes being screened out of every survey on Earth tonight but ho hum. I'm sure PA will keep trickling in.

I hope everyone is well, and enjoying their week, in spite of any obstacles being put in their path.

Oh, and my youngest came and told me that she had seen the most beautiful sunrise this morning when she was getting ready. We must all be on the same wavelength!

Be proud that you have raised a child who can appreciate a sunrise. It bodes well :)
If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

  • Sometimes you just have to take the monetary wins as they come.

Bringing up a child to recognise beauty is priceless. It's things like that comment which will sustain you.

Things at work sound tense. Some people just seem to enjoy causing upheavals just because they can. Are you able to escape at lunchtime? A walk in the fresh air used to do me good.

    Take care, nearly the weekend

You're right, appreciation of natural beauty is a wonderful thing. And her comment made my morning.

Work is generally OK, my department is slightly shielded from the majority of the bs so we can just get on with things. But this week we have staffing issues which, added to the general morale, brings home how unnecessary it all is.

  • I hate work politics, just want to keep my head down and get on with my job. How frustrating about the overtime, the attitude would really annoy me.
