Company refuses to reimburse job interview expenses

No, I don't. I suppose he'll cooperate.1. Apart from what your recruiter has told you, have you any evidence company X agreed to pay travel expenses? Will your recruiter be willing to give evidence to that effect in court if necessary?
Company X agreed to pay for the outward flight and back on the same day. However, I had to do interviews for the two other companies who agreed to pay for the accomodation for 2 days and the flight back 2 days later.2. I'm still not understanding what you are claiming. Are you saying company X agreed to pay all your travel expenses (outward and return flights plus accommodation) or just your outward flight (the £400)?
So
X: flight outward and back on same day: 400GBP --> still owes this
Y & Z: accomodation for 2 days in hotels + flight back --> paid
Perpahs I expained it a bit poorly, apologies.
They are not involved with the claim for Company X, I just wanted to tell the whole story.3. How did the other two companies become involved in the expenses claim if company X had agreed to pay?
Hmm, it might have been me telling them on the face-to-face interview, I can't remember clearly. It doesn't really matter as they didn't say that you can't go on an interview on the same trip to other companies.4. Why did your recruiter inform(!) company x you were attending other interviews? Wasn't that confidential?0 -

Are you saying that you spent £400 on a same day return ticket when you in fact knew you wouldn't be returning the same day? If this is the case then I think you should only be claiming for the cost of a single ticket. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
No, I didn't know that I would spend 2 more days in the UK at that point. Are you saying that you spent £400 on a same day return ticket when you in fact knew you wouldn't be returning the same day? If this is the case then I think you should only be claiming for the cost of a single ticket.0 -

I don't think the company can be held accountable for the full cost of the ticket as you only used half of it.
Maybe if you approach them asking for half you might get further?
I can see their point why should they pay for something you decided not to use (ie the return flight). However they do owe you the cost of one way as that was used to attend their interview.0 -

It was definitely after booking the flight. I'm not sure how much, maybe a couple of days or a week, but it was before actually taking the flight. When did you know?
Well, they said nothing about that...I can see their point why should they pay for something you decided not to use (ie the return flight).0 -

Did you inform them at this point that you would not be needing the return flight?Well, they said nothing about that...
Depending on the answer above why would they if they didn't have reason to think your wouldn't be using it?0 -
I may have missed this somewhere in the thread but have you actually asked Company X directly for the money. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

I think I did communicate it with the recruiter that I will be doing interviews for 2 other companies. Anyway I wouldn't have been able to refund the return flight.Did you inform them at this point that you would not be needing the return flight?
