What are you trying to suggest HM? If you want to allege that I am watching TV unlawfully then please do so directly, and also on an appropriate thread. Making snide comments on a thread about an entirely different subject is rather poor etiquette.
Please understand that some people in the UK don't need to watch live TV. You do seem rather OTT about people 'fiddling' - try to imagine that most people are generally honest, and only a minority 'fiddle', not the other way round.

Well I would love to have my awful old RHT meter swapped out free of charge but surprise surprise they can't install a smart meter as they aren't compatible. Yet again those on expensive legacy tariffs are excluded from the benefits available to others.0

I m not suggesting anything Eachpenny, apologies if you think I was "alleging " otherwise. You are getting paranoid about your decision not to pay the TV licence this year. I hope you enjoyed the F1 live this Sunday..I did , whilst you had to wait to watch it on catch up. Life is too short for that nonsense..I hope you change your mind and pay up for the TV licence .
I m just commenting on how many TV licence fiddlers , who all claimed to be "legally licence free " lol go through Doncaster Magistrates each and every week but there are never any for the much more dangerous and larger theft of tampering with energy meters and stealing thousands of pounds.
I really hope you clicked on my link about the gas explosion in 2014 in Dundas Rd Sheffield where the Police with British Gas revenue protection men went into check just 20 houses in Dundas Rd and found SEVEN energy thieves out of the twenty checked.
This very important check was the first time that it was revealed just how widespread energy theft is in the UK.
Its much more than OFGEM or the Government knew about, and they probably still do not know about it even now.
The only reason that they managed to enter the 20 homes to uncover their theft is because they did it on the pretext of checks for gas leakages so got away without the long drawn out process of applying for a warrant. The thieves never had time to reinstate their meters, like they usually do.
Dundas Rd is nothing special neither..There are much worse areas where theft of energy is the norm.
Shows how important it is to get smart meters installed in these areas..but of course, some idiotic Tory Energy Minister knows better, and has given them the choice of refusing one.
The rest of the E.U, bar two countries were much more sensible and declared them mandatory..0 -

Apology accepted HM, I'm not at all paranoid about my decision, I just don't like it when you suggest I'm doing something illegal by not watching live TV at home. I don't understand why you are so keen for me to spend money on something I do not need.
As it happens I did enjoy every live minute of the F1 race, I thought Hamilton's pit stop was a masterpiece
But you are most certainly on the money noting that whilst dozens of people go through the courts for not paying for TV, which at worst does the BBC out of a bit of cash, yet people who risk the lives of themselves and others by fiddling with meters seem to get away with it. Would you agree that society has got the wrong priorities?
I have to say I laughed my socks off picturing you bending down to listen at someone's letterbox for the sound of fans.... what would you have said if you were caught? :rotfl::rotfl:"In the future, everyone will be rich for 15 minutes"0
