It's a social responsibility towards future generations. As without the companies there's no jobs and the risk of a loss of skills.
In no way have you shown UK investors are more short term than anyone else.
You're confusing brand marketing with how long the owners retain their investment. Branding companies would love what you've said though - a U-boat builder with a social responsibility. I doubt BASF have much about their war effort on their website but there's another example. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. As they say, one man's loss is another man's gain.
Glasgow Airport set for job losses and cuts to airline services over Brexit fearsCommenting on Brexit, Amanda McMillan, Managing Director, said: “A number of airlines have stated they will scale back their UK growth plans, focusing instead on adding capacity at airports in the EU.”

How many utility companies, airports, ports, hotel chains etc can you name that are still in UK ownership?
Who dominates the UK agricultural business? I'll give you one clue. It's not a quoted company and you are unlikely to of ever heard of them.
Who owns the National lottery ?
Who owns the M6 toll road?0 -

I'm probably being slow on the uptake but how does this demonstrate UK investors are short-termist?This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Gawd, Mayo, your constant UK hate is rather distasteful...The airport passenger duty and other charges mean that Glasgow's passengers are paying one of the highest prices worldwide for airport usage, but are getting a second-rate facility geared towards commercial, not passenger, considerations.“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and who weren't so lazy.”0

More good news.........the UK now has the second lowest growth in the G20.0

The UK is near the bottom of the table on growth compared with major economic rivals in G20, a leading think-tank warned on Thursday.
The nation’s meagre 0.3% advance between April and June was beaten by all other leading economies except Brazil, according to the figures compiled by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Good thing the EU isn't important to our trade.
With EU trade at risk it'd be terrible if our exports to the EU are increasing in importance while our exports to the rest of the world are falling...
Oh, wait...
Exports of goods to non-EU countries decreased by £4.0 billion (8.8%) between the three months to May 2017 and the three months to August 2017.
Exports of goods to the EU increased by £1.7 billion (4.1%) between the three months to May 2017 and the three months to August 2017,“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
