Thank you.

I get far more from these links than I do endless doom mongering from the terrified crowd endlessly stating we are too silly and weak to thrive as independent nation
I'm sure you'd get a lot more from them if he spent a few seconds commenting on the links too, whether it's to summarize them, hint at the quality, express an opinion. This is a discussion thread and not a googling competition, after all.0 -
If you don't like my posts please put me on ignore. I won't be offended. I'm not out to annoy anybody. I just want to discuss Brexit facts.0

Good to see you so engaged.
Your facts aren't facts BTW. They're a step or two away from the facts and are usually someone's interpretation of the facts with a narrative applied.
I'm more interested in your opinion than a newsdump. We can all use google. I'm interested in Jock's too and sorry to see he's been PPR'ed.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
OK - I'm going to start a new thread as this one might well get deleted if there has been a ton of spam reported on it.
See this thread
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5680765Hi everyone!
Firstly a huge thanks to zippychick for flagging the disappearing threads up to us
Secondly, don't worry, there isn't a technical reason for these long running threads being removed.
Simply put, the "spam button" was clicked on them enough times that they were automatically deleted.
In the two instances we're aware of we believe this was just down to forum members accidentally clicking the button. These things do happen sadly.
As zippychick explained, we very sadly can't reinstate the threads but it's best to look on the bright side - often a shiny brand new thread can give us a fresh start and help our motivation.
Thanks for your patience with this everyone, it really is appreciated.

If you could sort my iPad to stop giving me updates on what the Telegraph are doing, I'd be most grateful
Actually, I read from a spectrum of sources, some of which I know will give me views I don't agree with, as it means that I can keep updated with a range of views on a range of subjects.
Oh, and re Conrad mentioning how everyone sitting on the left politically requires 'safe spaces'. I was 2 years ago straight down the centre politically. I've moved a little to the left in those 2 years, and I don't require 'safe spaces' at all, nor do I (or the majority of those I know) freak out the minute someone says something I don't want to hear.
Not attempting to tar everyone with the same brush would be a nice thing, especially looking at the Brexiteer snowflakes that suddenly appear proclaiming their love for some bloke called Nigel (anyone know who he is? I've never heard of him) at the hint of their precious Brexit being put under the tiniest bit of scrutiny. I appreciate that most here aren't like that, however there are one or two who definitely seem (on the opposite side to me) that they are.
Like Conrad, I'd like to move forward with constructive debate, which doesn't necessarily mean I agree with the direction the country is heading, more that I want it to work for you even though I likely won't be here.💙💛 💔0 -

In the course of looking at something else this morning, I stumbled upon someone saying about older diesel cars from Europe ending up in developing countries and their concern for it. I can't find the comment/article in my browsing history now to give a link.
My personal belief is that it would help the economic development of those countries, with potentially cheap (and largely unwanted) older vehicles being readily available for use outside the EU. This is especially apparent in the commercial vehicle sector where the driving down of prices for pre-2002ish vehicles would also help some people closer to home get their foot on the ladder. I'm talking stuff that is reasonably worth no more than about £1500 now, and at £500 would enable businesses to be started that at the current £1500 price point wouldn't be attainable.
There is concern from a group however (and I don't know how big this group is) for the environmental impacts that this may have on these countries.
Now, I do care about the environment however I don't see the point in throwing perfectly good used vehicles away when they could be put to effective use elsewhere just because they're not running on the newest or most efficient technology.
So, is the general view here that the environmental impacts of such a scheme would be too big, or that it would help other countries be in a better position to trade with us in the long run? Remember that this could create a new market for British parts suppliers (as a good number of older vans on the roads were built in the UK) in answering this.
I'm tipping towards the economic advantages for third countries, but would like your thoughts.
The negative aspects of air pollution are massively overstated
Cooking creates more air pollution right inside your house than any diesel car is impact you driven a road or two away. This is yet magnitudes more true in developing countries which use wood/coal/dung to cook food.
So yes Diesel vehicles should not be scrapped early if they have economic value to people or businesses.0
