Tory infighting over Brexit could hand power to Jeremy Corbyn, says William Hague
William Hague says if the Government is not united on Brexit then "Jeremy Corbyn will be PM.Former foreign secretary William Hague has called on Theresa May to unite her Cabinet around a Brexit strategy when she delivers a landmark speech this week.
If Mrs May fails to unite the Government, he said, the Tories might lose power and "Jeremy Corbyn will be Prime Minister".
Mr Hague's comments, in an article in the Daily Telegraph, came after days of headlines about Government infighting over Brexit.
Is it time for a Tory leadership election?0 -
But is it that simple? We have had a string of housebuilders’ profit announcements in the past few days, all of which have shown an industry in the best of health and making a great deal of money.
It has been this way now for several years. This being the case, the free-market economists of the IEA would have us believe that these same housebuilders will be gagging to construct even more homes next year so they can make even more money.
However, three quarters of Britain’s homes today are built by a handful of large listed companies. Their chief executives do not want to build vast numbers of homes and risk depressing the market.
Instead — and some are quite open about this — they want to build as few as they can sensibly get away with because that it the best way to keep prices high, profit margins up and their shareholders happy.
Far from embracing the opportunities of the free market to expand, they are behaving like monopolists and rationing supply — as Adam Smith predicted businessmen would when they thought they could get away with it.
With the private sector behaving in this way, the only hope is for Government to step in — either by providing substantially more funds for the housing associations or by once again encouraging local authorities to build council houses.
But the government don't wont the housing market to crash either - so they won't step in.
So Remainers can we really continue to have immigration at 350,000 each year without depriving your own children of somewhere to live?0 -

My point still stands. The UK is outside the Eurozone yet the economy is still growing and tackling the challenges posed by the GFC. The ability to borrow cheaply is down to central bank intervention. A policy which at some time is going to be reversed. Not everybody is benefiting either.0 -

You can only borrow if someone is willing to lend and the banks aren't doing much of that.0 -
Naïve view. People like Rudd were passionate Remainers and deep down still are, agreeing a settled view is not going to possible unless the Remoaner din in the media quietens down
Example last nights Sky News NI Brexit piece was wall to wall gloom, utterly one sided fake news, out of touch pious Beth Rigby & Faisal Islam falling over themselves with gleeAsked if she believed there will be unity at a special meeting of her top ministers before the speech, the Prime Minister said: "Yes, the Cabinet is absolutely clear about the destination we are aiming for in relation to our European negotiations."But, asked whether Mr Johnson should be dismissed, the Prime Minister said: "Boris is doing good work as Foreign Secretary.
"He has been doing that here at the United Nations."
Some remain determined to read far more into this than I suspect is the reality. Still, if some are so isolationist that they have no idea who Fiasal Islam is, nor indeed Beth Rigby ......................0 -
This is rendered impractical thanks to the Remoaner din constantly causing other Remoaners to declare things are harder than the reality.
People such as Amber Rudd will be influenced by the groaning negativity and as such her and others will impart a negative 'weak Britain' influence on the Cabinet which people like Boris HAVE to provide a counter to
Every time you say 'Remoaner,' Conrad, a fairy dies.0 -

I'm pretty sure she's going to do everything she can to facilitate Brexit lite.
Simple prejudice. If Boris Johnson was a 'brexit-lite' fan you be viewing his CV with similar suspicion. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

So you have a different opinion to me - I think I'll cope.A_Medium_Size_Jock wrote: »Still, if some are so isolationist that they have no idea who Fiasal Islam is, nor indeed Beth Rigby ......................
Looked them up - just a couple of journos from Sky. I must be living under a rock.
You should be more confident about arguing your opinions rather than seeking the comfort of a journo that agrees with you. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I do actually.
Don't really approve of hateful people doing hateful things just to cause offence for offence's sake though.
The EU have chosen not to display a cartoon with a dead Nazi's arm (complete with a swastika) emerging from a grave doing a Nazi salute at their 60th birthday party. Don't blame them.
