Eurozone unemployment falls to 9.1% – lowest since February 2009The eurozone’s jobs-led recovery has been gathering pace in the last year, bringing down the bloc’s unemployment rate from over 10 per cent in June 2016 as growth in the continent has been spurred by low interest rates and a brightening world economy.
Still double the UK rate I hear you say?
Not really....

Despite these countries not wanting the migrants and the migrants not wanting to go to these countries.

Well the EU has to do something, doesn't it?
After all, global opinion will not be improved by reports such as:
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/refugee-crisis-ngo-rescue-ships-mediterranean-sea-italy-libya-eu-code-of-conduct-deaths-2300-latest-a7866226.html
There are rules governing rescue of people at sea and they are being seriously abused by migrants, people smugglers and agencies like MSF who are basically providing a taxi service for any migrants who succeed in leaving Libyan waters. Frankly, they have a nerve complaining about the EU requiring them to follow a code of conduct. The laws governing rescues at sea need a major overhaul to prevent these abuses.0 -
To amend a famous quote, the thing that appears to elude Brexiteers is that if people in Britain stop buying cars made in Germany then German factories might cut their hours a bit for some shifts.
If people in Europe stop buying cars made in Britain then people in Britain stop making them and the factories shut.
After gleefully prophesying the demise of the EU, Little Englanders are going to get a painful lesson in just how united Europeans can be.
Sadly they are going to inflict that lesson on the rest of us.0 -

:whistle:The eurozone’s labour market is in much worse shape than official jobs figures suggestThe problem of underestimating unemployment is particularly acute in Europe because Eurostat, the European Commission’s statistics bureau responsible for the measure, bases its official unemployment figure on a narrow definition of joblessness. Those included have to be without work, available to start work within two weeks and actively seeking work.
So if EU unemployment is actually nearer to the 18% that this report suggests ........................................0 -
More Europeans than ever say they feel like citizens of the EUA record number of people in EU countries now personally feel like they are citizens of the European Union, according to a long-running survey monitoring the continent’s views on integration.
As Britain heads towards the exit door the rest of the continent feels more positive about European identity than ever,The continent appears undeterred by Brexit
Of course they are undeterred by Brexit.
The look across the Channel and see a country with an economy grinding to a halt, political stalemate and societal breakdown.

How ironic. Our resident brexiteering headbangers never ceased to pontificate about how Brexit would signal the beginning of the end for the EU.Don't blame me, I voted Remain.0 -

Really weird that a survey conducted by the European commission would yield such a positive result0 -

The good news from the Eurozone economies just keeps on coming.
Italy Industrial Output Jumps, Pointing to Faster RecoveryItalian industrial output accelerated in June, pointing to a possible stronger-than-expected economic recovery.Widespread optimism that the euro region’s third-biggest economy is on the mend this year followed a number of recent, better- than-expected reports ranging from retail sales to the labor market where the unemployment rate fell in June, dropping to a level that matches the lowest since 2012.

Good news my wotsit - though yes it is better news for Italy regarding growth than they have had for ....... tell us how many years please?
Here are the figures for the year to June; Italy 1.2% - UK 1.7%. *1.
Do you really expect acceptance that Italy is somehow doing better than the UK with those statistics?
:rotfl:
For 2016, Italy growth = 0.8%
For 2016 UK growth = 1.8%
*2
It seems pretty obvious then why any growth in Italy is seen as newsworthy, doesn't it?
