FWIW, I'm using V12.0 (2004) and after an initial glitch recently (resolved by a restart) everything's now working fine.

That problem wouldn't exist when I re-install Money 2000, would it?
No - you didn't mention reinstalling MM 2000, just renaming the folder. A reinstall would lose any settings you had for the originak installation (if any), but would otherwise be fine.

I have been running Money 2005 for many years - probably since 2005 actually. Works fine on latest Windows 10.

I also have the patch allowing download of fund and stock prices, which also works very well.

I too have been using Money 2004 on various operating systems with no issues. However it has certainly got 'clunky' to use a previous term, which I have found to be due to the data rather than the software.

So about every 5 years, after I have archived old data, I completely renew my database by exporting accounts to Excel and then reimporting into a new clean data file. The process is very laborious as things such as 'Bills & Deposits' and some reports have to be redone manually, but for half a day of pain, you end up with a clean fast data file.

I think the data files accumulate a lot of crap, particularly fund data, and retain it even after being cleaned, archived, repaired. Not having any technical knowledge of the software I can't explain this, but it is quite satisfying to do the conversion despite the tedium of it.
What is happening to the English Language? These are not isolated, but repeated every day.
'Definate', 'Aswell', 'Rediculous', 'Payed'...and the best of all 'Could Of'. How can anyone think that 'Could Of' can actually mean anything. You may as well write 'Could Zebra' for all the sense it makes.

Is anyone using this http://moneymvps.org/faq/article/651.aspx to download the prices from the FT?

I have got as far creating a mapper file (under the heading Fund Prices) for all fund prices and need a bit of help setting it up.

I used it many years ago but for a much neater solution see: http://gaiersoftware.com/Money. This was created by an ex-MsMoney developer and interfaces directly with the MSMoney database. The one you refer to is rather messy in that (IIRC) it creates dummy buys/sells and requires an external portfolio.

I have been using MS Money since about 2001 so I have a *lot* of data in there. It's a shame that Microsoft decided to continue it - it may be long in the tooth and missing some modern features (sync to my mobile would be nice!) but I haven't yet been able to find a better replacement especially one which will import my historic data.

...and in a nutshell that is why Intuit/Quicken and MS abandoned the UK personal finance market.
The market was too small and users had the annoying habit of buying the software once for £35 and then using it for the next 10 years and not buying any new editions.

So it was just not economically viable to continue.
