    Just to update:

third party has accepted liability and my car has been deemed a total loss. I think tomorrow i will find out the options available to me in more detail.

I have managed to time my fuel in line with this decision :) The light is on so at least i've not ended up wasting a full tank of juice, although i did have the car serviced not even a month ago & the oil wasn't cheap plus i bought in a second lot for the next service so i've not escaped too well on that front :(

Regards the road tax - we're almost out of August. Should i declare it SORN now so that i get September refunded to me? I assume this wont be a problem for when the company come to pick it up as i don't imagine i'd be expected to keep it taxed for a month just for it to be taken away. I know it sounds daft reading it back but i just wanted to be sure - i'm good to declare it SORN now for a September refund?

Would really appreciate a response to the tax situation since we're literally in the final day, unless of course it's too late to get a refund for September and i should've submitted it before now.

Waiting on the garage calling which should be today to discuss my options. I don't really want to have to keep it taxed just for a few days. If they pick up from my work it'll need to be taxed. Picking up from my home i could have it untaxed but that's a problem as i'd need to take time off work to be there.
One possibility is to pick it up from my partners workplace as they have off road parking and it wouldn't be a problem with the employers but this depends whether i'd need to be there or not. My partner could simply hand over the keys and anything i may have to sign in advance.

The car is driveable but again will i need to provide it with sufficient juice for them? Some have said they'll drive it away others have said it'll be picked up, maybe a low loader or A-frame or something?
