If you need to keep referring to a screen while working on another, 'split screen' is useful.

Use Ctrl N - to open new window, type or copy URL of new website.
Press Windows button (left-hand side) and right-hand curser together to split the two screens.
Enlarge first screen.

You can now see two screens side by side.

If you want a Control Panel shortcut icon on your desktop in Windows 10, follow one of the inimitable Brink's tutorials.

first search for powershell in cortana then right click and run as administrator
you can also find that by right clicking on the windows flag on the taskbar
then you can enter commands which give details which you can cut and paste
enter ....
ps or get-process :tell you whats running
get-service | sort -property status :tell you what services are running/stopped
get-disk :tell you what disks you have
get-volume :tell you what volumes you have
get-partitions :tell you partitions you have

The first time you log into a new computer, as soon as you've got to the normal desktop screen, just walk away, and leave the computer switched on for a while before you do very much.

Windows 10 does a lot to sort itself out, rebuild search indexes etc. in the background, and if you leave it to its own devices for a while I find it's more pleasant to use later.

The same applies just after a major update (the ones where you get a blank screen with the word 'Hi' in the middle, which are actually a version upgrade).
