Has anyone cancelled Sky before their minimum term ends? I'm thinking of doing this as my 75% discount is coming to an end and I've still got 3 months left on my Sky Q silver contract. I have Boxsets and cinema so my bill will be over £60 a month which is rediculous I'm not that impressed with Sky Q, it is very temperamental. How much will it cost me to get out of this contract?
I think NowTV is the future.

It's essentially the value still left on the contract to run to end of minimum term, so no saving. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

It's costing £45 so a considerable saving.
NowTv and freesat here I come.0 -

You misunderstand macman. You're going to have to pay for the remainder of your contract, hence no saving for the next three months. In fact, if you take out NowTV now, you're going to effectively be paying £105 for the next three months.0 -

I think the OP (not macman) meant it would cost £45 to pay off his Sky contract, they then have to pay whatever NowTV costs on top of course. I'd like to know how they got 75% discount on an 18(?) month Sky Q contract in the first place.0 -

I already have a freesat pvr and my old dish and a Netflix sub so happy days. I probably won't get a NowTv pass until near Christmas as GOT will be finished and the next series I want is the affair and Billions. I don't think there's anything else I want to watch.
The Simpsons isn't what it used to be either so not worth the subs.0 -

I think it was 60% plus £100 credit then 2 months later I signed up for Sky Q silver on a 12 month contract this is why I have the next 2 months at full price which I was not prepared to pay (£60 a month for a TV package is outrageous in my eyes) so although I'm having to pay a penalty I will still be saving as I won't miss the service that much. It's only a few series on Sky Atlantic and a few movies on cinema I want which I can get on NowTV at a fraction of the cost with no commitments.

So it was a 10 month discount on a 12 month contract? If so then you'd be paying £120+ for the last 2 months plus your NowTV costs? If so then since you're going to have to pay for the Sky anyway I'd just schedule a cancellation at the end of the minimum term especially since you don't want to jump straight to NowTV, otherwise it's just cutting off your nose... etc etc.0 -
I had TV from Sky since 1990, with one very short break, and always found them easy to deal with.
I renewed my 50% off the full package with them in February, and then at the end of March found out that I had been given a place in sheltered accommodation, which does not allow satellite dishes as it's in a conservation area.
A quick conversation with Sky on the issue, and they allowed me to leave the contract without charge.
They were very pleasant, understood the situation and agreed without any problem. Very professional."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

I don't understand what you mean? By cancelling early I will be saving about £75 as when you cancel early you are not liable for the full cost, just a percentage of what you would have paid if you weren't cancelling early. I probably won't get a NowTv pass straight away as there is nothing forthcoming that I particularly want to watch on the sky channels so I will be saving and when I do get a NowTv pass I will be saving a lot of money over a normal sky contract0 -

Where have you got that bit from?
As far as im aware you have to pay the amount in the contract you agreed to. Therfore you cant cancel early and pay less. You can cancel early and pay exactly what you would have done without getting the product or you can run out your contract paying what you agreed to whilst still recieving some product.
It sounds like you will be paying the full price unless you can negotiate with them.0
