When is a disputed amount a "debt"?
Comments
-
I'm happy to pay what I owe. The dispute is the amount.
If Virgin told me I owed them £500, but the correct amount was £100, would you still advise me to just pay up?0 -
unfortunately they will just keep reporting it as late.
Can I ask why you dispute the figure as I am just about to go down a similar route I fear as they have just told me I have to give them 3 months notice as that is how long I have left on my contract.
I know that is rubbish as I took my contract out so long ago, that they weren't even Virgin media.
I haven't renewed or changed any services since day 1.
I have asked them for a copy of my contact and another department have already confirmed they have no record.
VM are so frustrating, their product is brilliant, but why is it as soon as you have to interact with them it all goes so wrong, they are just about the most incompetent bunch of morons I have ever had the misfortune to have had to deal with.
Anyway rant over back to the OP, if your contract is more recent then this might explain their early cancellation fees0 -

*UPDATE*
I wanted to let you all know that I sued Virgin Media and won.
After an interim hearing at Court they agreed to write off the so-called "debt" and agreed to write to the CRAs to remove the default from my credit file. Which they have done.
My credit rating doubled overnight.
It turns out that I wasn't the only one and OFCOM have just fined Virgin Media £7million.
Thanks to all those who tried to help.0 -
To be fair to Virgin, it was a debt, and it was a charge you agreed to when you signed your contract with them.
Ignore your credit score/rating doubling - it still means as much now as it did with the default on there0 -

Could you tell us how you went about "suing Virgin Media" ?
Your experience might help other people.0 -
Probably just a complaint to the FOS.
I highly doubt they were sued personally by an individual for a sum of less than £200 that should have been paid as per the terms of their signed and agreed contract.0
