Hello,
We are off on our first family holiday to Spain in Oct but I was wondering how much money to change up to take :huh:
The holiday is an all inclusive package and because I have never been on a holiday like this before I wasn't sure how much extra money to take or if we will need extra money.
Any advice would be great

Don't exchange cash.
Use a travel credit card or prepaid card to withdraw from an ATM. Take some £££'s to exchange locally in case anything happens to your card(s).0 -
Don't change any money to take, keep it in pounds in your bank account. Obtain a couple of suitable prepaid or credit cards that have no overseas fees and convert your money when you spend or withdraw, such as Halifax Clarity, Monzo, Starling Bank:

Take some high denomination notes for emergencies, and lots of small ones for the odd things that do need cash. General advice is to spend on cards if possible.0

I never arrive in other country with no cash. You may need cash for buying something at airport on arrival, for taxi or for tips. I usually take about 100 euros in smaller notes, rest I do get using cards though.0

I always use cards when abroad, but as above I also take a small amount of local currency for arrival. I have had instances where the cash machines have not been working at the airport. I like to have enough to cover taxi fare to the hotel and breakfast the following day - generally around £100.0

I didn't even realise they made pre paid credit card type things, I have had a look and so will probably go with that monzo card, has anyone used this card before??0

Yes, since they began about a year ago, it works perfectly and is probably the simplest fee-free solution. It will soon be phased into their bank account card, so jump in now.Chezzabelle2017 wrote: »that monzo card, has anyone used this card before??
Take some backup card(s) and perhaps a few crisp £20 notes 'just in case' - even using your normal bank cards is unlikely to cost more than buying cash euros in UK then changing back the excess.
When using an ATM make sure that you select 'Without Conversion' if offered an exchange rate, so that your card converts to euros and not the ATM at their awful rate.Evolution, not revolution0
