Rear ended in my hire car

If you read my original post I tried to get his address but he said he was late for work and took off. I wanted more details and move off the road to allow traffic flow but he did not want to stay.0

OK, best thing to do in those circs is to call the police.0 -
You have already complied with your contractual duty to immediately inform the hire company their car has been in an accident.
Take lots of photos of the damage before you return the car. When you return it give the hire company the full details again, show them the damage and offer to fill in an accident report form to assist them in recovering the cost of repair from the other driver.
Some hire companies will immediately charge the excess some will be sensible and say its clearly non fault and waive the excess. How you behave towards the hire company will be a big factor in this.
I hired a van years ago, whilst in the back strapping down a piano a scaffolding lorry knocked the wing mirror off. A witness got all the details of the lorry and agreed to be a witness. When I dropped the van back to enterprise I apologised for returning it damaged, explained what happened and gave them the lorry and witness details. They told me not to worry and showed me a rack full of spare wing mirrors for their transits. Apparently it was very common damage so they kept spares in store so they could change them on site and get the cans back out. No excess to pay and never heard anything else.0 -

When I am in Korea, when someone refers to me as English, they are being factual, not racist.
When I am in Italy and my English t's give me away when I am speaking Italian, and they say "Sei Inglesi?" They aren't being racist, they are being factual.
When I am in Vienna or Hamburg, and I trip over a German word they will say: "Du bist Englisch, ja?" They aren't being racist.
When all these people refer to me when they go about their business elsewhere, they will describe me as English. That is not racist. It is a fact.
If a Korean I work with later describes me as 너 게으른 영어 돼지
THAT's racist.
Unless I am actually a Fat lazy English Pig.
Learn context. It means so much.

Caronel - your statements here are simply ridiculous.
None of this post is "racist", you are exemplary at being offensive to anyone and clear enjoy trolling.

My goodness, you do have a bee in your bonnet don't you!
I'd also probably have mentioned that he was Asian, Scottish, Welsh etc - that doesn't make me a racist.
You've contributed absolutely nothing to the thread apart from purposely trying to irritate everyone that disagrees with you - go and use your time and energy for something productive.
I suggest you don't bother replying unless you have something productive and relevant to add, as so far you've just caused 2 pages of pointless, unhelpful drivel.
Back to the matter at hand, OP - did you take plenty of pictures at the scene?
I've been involved in a claim where the other party completely denied being at the scene, got the damaged repaired etc - thankfully I took plenty of pictures.0 -
Can some moderator cancel all the OT posts and rants about racism and give a slap on the wrist to those who take the thread OT?
Back on-topic, does any one know if this incident would need to be disclosed to insurers when getting a quote for motor insurance, even if it's a no-fault accident?
I suppose the name of the driver and the fact that he was involved in an accident would, regardless of fault, end up in some centralised insurance database, even if it was with a hired car - is this correct?0 -
Persistently repeating the same flawed accusations does not mean you are correct.Being well travelled and well educated doesn't mean you can't be racist, as your contributions have proved.
By comparison, you make the permanently outraged Daily Mail readers seem quite moderate in their ability to take offence."We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0 -

About the OT posts and rants - well said!
About declaration, most insurers AFAIK ask whether any driver has been involved in an accident, so it needs to be declared. Whether it's on a centralised database is really irrelevant.0 -

caronoel - I was going to reply, but thought what I wanted to say would get me a warning, so it is deleted.
Instead I will just say, don't you think it is people like yourself that pull the 'racist card' out at every possibility are the problem here?
No?
I guessed not.
