OP just to reinforce, crashy is an idiot.

He spends his life on here posting garbage for many years about there being a house price crash. His 'advice' has proven to be so way off the mark it's embarrassing as all house prices have done is increase.

if there was one person on here to kick off the site for scaremongering and inaccurate posts it's him!!

It's very sad that crashy has nothing else better to do than post hundreds of nonsense posts on here every day.

On what grounds would MSE kick Crashy off the site, I wonder?

I can't think of anything I'm not also guilty of from time to time.

The strength of MSE is that it welcomes a range of opinion, provided nothing illegal is suggested. Because someone is at the far end of a particular range, isn't a valid reason to ban them.

I agree (although Crashys posts are often unhelpful and offputting for those going through the process)

Crashy still has a profile and is on the site.

I see you have now changed your post, so I'll respond to the update by adding that it isn't always a respondents' place to be helpful and reassuring. There's a range of options, including being devil's advocate and challenging accepted viewpoints, dogmas etc. Without occasional dissenters, this would be a dull place, although I agree that much discussion is, and probably should be, very run-of-the-mill.

I thought you were saying Crashy had been kicked off, and then went back and looked and corrected myself :)

Read my post again. I said if mse kicked people off for scaremongering and inaccurate posts it would be him. I didn't say he should be.

I just hate him hijacking nearly all posts just to say 'IMO the house is only worth 5p'

That isn't what you said at all, no matter how many times anyone reads it.

You said, "if there was one person on here to kick off the site for scaremongering and inaccurate posts it's him!!" which seems to imply that you think he ought to be kicked-off for those things.

If that isn't the message that you wanted to convey, then maybe you should have written what your clarification says instead.

What's the point in measuring up before you exchange?

Because when you're tearing your hair out with solicitors, estate agents, running backwards and forwards providing statements and wage slips its nice to have light relief and sit with the Argos catalogue planning out your new house. You've started a process to buy a house because you like it, so its assumed you'd be looking forward to moving in and night be actually excited about it!

NB...the above applies to people who buy a house to be a HOME and not purely as an "investment". (Still makes me shudder when I hear that)

Hundreds a day? Looking forward to the link that proves that one! It was a bubble, it was credit driven, the political/social desire to keep propping up and pumping the bubble has diminished, the bubble is popping, and the MSM are on-board with this idea now, they are actually doing a cheerleading job for the crash, as they did on the way up IMO, There is nothing inaccurate or "far out" in what I am saying at all, and there are many established posters here who spend FAR more time on the forum than I do.

IMO sellers would do well to be forthright with a buyer and ask them in an open and friendly manner what they think of the price, without seeming to put any pressure on them.
