Is jaywalking (dangerous pedestrian crossing) ever a crime in England?

I remember covering the reliability of witness testimony at university and it's terrifying - I will never not be without my dashcam for this reason.
Tbh the accident will often help prove people are lying. But the issue is that the police/insurance company either don't know how to read it or just don't want to put that kind of effort into every RTC.
For example (doesn't involve a pedestrian but just to demonstrate), FOAF (friend of a friend) was looking at losing his job due to the other driver alleging the FOAF pulled out a side road giving him no time to react (FOAF had actually been sitting waiting to pass a car who had pulled over to answer mobile - long enough that he'd put the handbrake on). Some pictures, measurements and 4 sheets of calculations later, we'd managed to prove that not only was he lying, but that he'd been going nearly double the speed limit. FOAF kept his job and his clean driving record. Other drivers insurance company paid in full. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
I also vaguely recall seeing a Police Interceptors/Traffic Cops episode a pedestrian wearing dark cloths walking on the side of a 60mph road was struck and died, with no action brought against the driver (Maybe someone else here has seen it?). I think that the police will look at how likely it would have been that you could have avoided the accident, taking your driving on the day into account. But as you say.
I don't remember that but there was an episode with a cyclist, hit by a young lady in a mini. A cyclist with no lights or reflectors, wearing dark clothes and over the drink drive limit0 -

A pedestrian cannot be at-fault in an accident.

Look up "pedestrians right of way" and "common law" kthx“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

If a motorist, driving or riding within the speed limit, fails to stop in time, would it be the pedestrian’s fault? Surely “right of way” doesn’t apply when a red man is clearly telling the pedestrian to stay put and wait? Or does it?
[*]Jaywalking is not a crime, but what about crossing a few metres from a traffic light, which very clearly shows a red man? Is that legal? Is that dangerous? In case of an accident would it be the pedestrian’s fault?
I don't think a red man showing should mean a pedestrian has to wait till it goes green before they can cross the road. Otherwise that creates the strange situation where pedestrians are waiting to cross the road and no cars are coming.
I've seen this a few times at traffic lights on a 30mph road and you can see atleast 100m in each direction. There were no cars coming at all yet there were a large group of people (atleast 20) on both sides of the road waiting for the green man to show to cross the road!.0 -

Do I wait for green if it's a red man? Depends. If I can see it is clear, then sometimes I'll cross anyway. I never cross on a red man when there are children around. I was brought up to see that as a bad example to set as children will often try and copy what an adult around them (even a stranger) does.
Don't get me started on people who press the button walk across on the red and then you get the red light on a Toucan crossing with no one crossing...:mad:0
