O that poor landlord.
OP, its because its summer. The freezer doesnt have to work as hard in winter so it gets less tired, it will just be tired out from all the hard work its doing. Same with the hob, because its wamer the hob is confused and think it doesnt need to heat up as much. The lights arent as bright because its BST, when the clock go back theyll brighten up again.
Don't talk nonsense, it's all down to Brexit! With the fall in the value of the pound it doesn't buy as much imported electricity from France as it used to, so they are having to mix proper French nuclear power with recycled hydro power from Scotland. During the summer, the Scottish lochs are lower and the current in the rivers is weaker. Current is expressed in Amps and watts=volts x amps. So with the voltage in the grid fixed, and a lower current coming from Scottish rivers it stands to reason that it will take longer for a 3W kettle to boil. The OP should ask their landlord to write to Nicola to complain.0 -

While you're at it, get him to check that your water supply hasn't been watered down too.
Recently we have found that our mains water is a lot heavier than normal and it glows in the dark.
Should we be worried about this Heavy Water?0 -
I'm sure they've done that with me, my water supply is almost all water!
Yes but you can never be quite sure... The water companies store vast quantities of dehydrated water in empty reservoirs during the summer and then add water to it in the autumn to rehydrate it, before adding it to the normal supply. Most customers are completely unaware of this scam.0 -
Great thread, very amusing, Thanks for that! xx0

This thread has made me wonder if I can use the voltage and frequency displays on my plug-in power monitor as some kind of National Emergency detector. For example, if the frequency drops below 48Hz or the voltage below 207V, that means that something bad is happening somewhere in the UK that the powers-that-be haven't told me about.0
