If you think your electricity supply is out of range then you can pay an electrician to test it with his fancy equipment. It is theoretically possible your supply is bad and could cause light bulbs to blow, but it's very unlikely.
I don't think £125 is too unreasonable for a call out and test charge.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -

Have spoken to the landlord and he is now getting the power company to come and do a safety check for free.
So it wont cost me anything.
Looking at the bulb holders the are hot and hae a scorch mark on so will wait and see.0 -
