Win 10 recovery mode

Why my only fulll recovery mode failed approx 75% is beyond me.

Asus 32 flash storage latptop since booting to bios only.

If I could remember boot to win10 recovery screen there maybe a chance of saving my entry level laptop .

Still pursuing some return to Asus options as warranty has a few months yet though slightly disappointed Currys couldn’t produce a sales receipt in store as I cant remember which card I used to pay for the laptop and Asus require a sales receipt as I didn’t keep paper receipt.

Accessing the UEFI (BIOS) setup on a Windows computer, maybe yours?




You can access the BIOS on Acer's when you first power on the system. As soon as the first logo screen appears, immediately press the F2 key, or the DEL key if you have a desktop, to enter the BIOS.
If you are still unable to get into the BIOS, you can access the UEFI (BIOS) setup screens from the boot menu:

What would be handy is if you have or had made a usb recovery drive.

The people on here (except me) are psychic. They all know what the exact model of computer you have, plus what you were doing when this happened, the symptoms, and fault you are trying to recover from with out you telling them.

If a random person came up to you and said they'd bought something from you and couldn't provide proof, not even what card they claimed to have used, would you believe them?

What I do have is click and collect email from Currys
Including store laptop make/model/date of purchase cost+vat.

Only card details missing, I’m still pursuing sales receipt from card providers.

Some providers only show statements for purchases upto6 months previous where I purchased laptop Nov 2016

Excellent reply, thanks I do have a usb drive though not a Win10 recovery.

Win10 was pre installed with Asus entry level laptop.

Symptoms are as posted.

Asus laptop is booting to bios screen only,
I.e. not booting to Win10.

I’ll re search as there is a startup key combi that boots laptop direct to win10 recovery screen though cant remember what it is.

Is it maybe F2 or F8 whilst holding power button?

I”m currently using ipp pro10.5 not in front of Asus laptop.

If you bought it November 2016 then it's down to Currys to fix it not Asus and your click an collect order is your receipt because they don't give you anything else and I'm prety sure it even says as much on it so just reprint the email and go back to Currys.

If it will boot from USB and as you can get to the bios you can check if it has that option in the boot sequence then it is quite possible to download the recovery iso from Microsoft and produce a bootable USB drive but you will need access to another machine to produce it.

I think there is a trick to being able to boot from USB on some of these laptops. https://superuser.com/questions/1162694/how-to-boot-from-usb-on-my-asus-t101ha may give an answer for yours - I haven't read it all.

I feel for you, there is no situation in this age where companies should not have your details on record, especially since the till slips are formulated to fade after a few months, but if the tax man asked them, bet the records would promptly appear

Exactly

As when I visited Currys after raising a fault ticket with Asus.

The Currys store advisor, found my order from the email I found via iPhone.

Then couldn’t produce a sales order receipt as I cant remember which card I paid with at time of purchase.

I was s;ighlty dissapointed though I’m not an angry person at all,though annoyed that Asus are happy to service in 12 month warranty on me uploading as receipt or sales order receipt from store of purchase i.e. Currys.
