a bit of a bully, got sucked in by the trolls into pointless discussions, even tried resurrecting themselves but the give away signs were there, old habits are hard to let go.
was also very active on the redundancyforum but that has gone now..... did anyone find out why it shut down?
also seen on consumeractiongroup not sure if still active never go there.
I don't know who this is, but gosh, now we are criticising and abusing people who aren't even on the board anymore. Great to see that we are sinking to new depths.
I do go to the consumer action group though and haven't seen that poster there. Having said that, I can see why people might not go there. The kind of irrelevant abuse and nastiness that routinely happens here is monitored and deleted there. It probably isn't as much fun.
As for getting sucked in by trolls, you are right - it is very hard not to respond when you read the downright abusive comments directed at you and which appear to be acceptable conduct on this site. Can't blame Sar-El for that. Or for deciding they had had enough. Especially when it appears that you don't even have to be posting to get abused.0 -

In fact they accused her of exactly what you are now complaining about! Disgracefully it lead to a PPR suspension. For a while she returned under a different name but was, sadly, "outed". Eventually, sadly but understandably, she had enough.
People need to understand that the fact that advice is not what they want to hear doesn't, in itself, make it wrong. Yes maybe sometimes it could be put more tactfully but if you are looking for expert advice for free you are not really in a position to dictate terms. Simply saying "there there, you poor hard done by thing" may occasionally be useful but it seldom solves the problem.

The point that was being made was that you can perfectly lawfully be disciplined for making an "honest mistake". The consequences of such a mistake can in some situations expose the employer to enormous liabilities and even, in some situations, be fatal.
People are employed to do their job properly, not make mistakes "honest or otherwise". The fact that it was an "honest mistake" and not deliberate or reckless may be a point in mitigation. But that is all, it is not a "get out of jail free" card!0 -
I agree but when its highjacked by the Daily Fail boss loving, employee hating brigade, it can be a bit soul destroying.
This isn't the best forum to post these sort of issues, there are better forums out there where you get good constructive replies. Too many good people like Sar El have left this forum because they know what it's now like.
You're not wrong - this forum is in a miserable state in my opinion and not currently somewhere I'd advise anyone to post an employment problem.0 -

I dread the day. I ever have to work for any or these companies. I have 20 years service and about 15 to go. I suspect I have been spoiled. Where the employer takes everything in to account. Their discipline record, pass performance. The individual circumstances including personal. Where they will encourage Union membership in a CBA and listen with a open mind to the rep. "Honest mistakes" are taken into account if the individual has a good work history.
The employee will be expected to do a fair share of over-time and a fair days work. Be flexible and not moan if they are asked to do a little house cleaning. Work pass the odd break. Stay a little late to complete the job or come in a little earlier.
Very few people leave. In fact you can be on a waiting list for years for an interview. This means skilled, experience workforce. Most have to die or retire for a vacancy to be available. The company then has a low training and recruitment cost. A motived loyal workforce. Who would believe it!!!!!
I had to have an operation not long back. I was off for nearly 3 months. I was given full pay and only asked to insure I posted my doctors note in. I received the odd phone call from my supervisor to ask how I was recovering. On my return I was asked how I was and filled in the normal return to work forms/interview. Since then nothing more has been said. I have to have the odd appointment at the hospital and they bend over backwards to get cover.
On a final note. Of course we only have the opinions of the offended. How else is it going to work. Ask the employer for there side of the events!
I think I will say a silent thank you tonight........on my knees!!0 -

No one mentioned tribunal.
Enough to make it worth the effort or see the discipline reduced.
In many cases I will be honest and tell the individual to accept they were in the wrong, give little excuses and apologise. In most cases this has a positive influence on the punishment or discipline level.0 -
Has SarEl really left the forum. I've thought for a while that she is alive and well and even posting on this very thread... my bad.0

I came on here hoping to find SarEL. I'm very disappointed she's gone because she helped me with as an employer and as an employee. At the end of the day if I want advice I'm not really bothered how it is delivered.0
