Don't mean to sound rude but no! Like cheeky says, it's a lot to remember, and in my case will just mean I post less comps. Those that post comps spend a long time looking for them and the answers, and I think it's a bit much to expect this as well.

    too many comps..not enough time!

The OP was polite and thanked those who post. They were only asking, not demanding.
I see where they are coming from. Like the people who put 'no online entry' in their posts, it is really useful.

Thanks to all those who post.

Not sure if you're referring to me here - but if you are: I didn't say the OP was being demanding. I simply answered honestly to her question. I know I won't be doing it in the future, so I thought an honest answer was best!

    Hi
Just a quick plea for those posting email competitions - can you put it in the title?

I often don't have time to do the email ones, just enter the online ones, and quite often have opened up threads, read through stuff and only then find out it's an email one - it's so much easier if it is in the title.

I've noticed some people do it and it's really useful.

Thanks to everyone who posts competitions :T

How about approaching this from a different angle Kirsteen?

I used to hate doing the email comps but then I saved my details as a signature & now when I click for a new email (either on a comp link or on my Outlook), the signature appears on the email.

All I have to do when I am not sending in a comp is a quick swipe with the mouse to highlight & hit the delete key - details are gone ready for me to write a 'normal' email :)

If it helps I have the following saved:

    Answer:

    Name
    Add
    Add
    Add
    Add
    Add

    mobile no.

    email addy

Again, if the comp just needs an email (with no answer) I just delete the 'Answer:' from the email which moves my address up a bit & then I hit send. Or if they only want the answer, name, address & phone number another quick swipe with the mouse, hit the delete key & sorted!

It literally takes a few seconds, quicker even than most website entries :)

Hope this helps, as it saved me so much time when I thought of it! :D
Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out

I'm happy to do it if I can remember - knowing my memory though I probably won't! I think it will come down to personal choice, who wants to do it and who doesn't. Can't see it being a problem for me personally to add 'email' in the title.

    NOW IN COMPING SEMI-RETIREMENT! :D

its a good idea but dont think its really that practical as once you start putting email in the title there are other things people will want in the subject line. Often you can tell by hovering over the title whether you need to register, and more often than not if you cant see the 'click here' when hovering over the title its an email comp - but not always

Fraid ill be carrying on as normal but keep comping!

I didnt used to enter email comps then I realised how easy they were to enter, some people have their details saved as signiture, I just have my name, address, phone number, date of birth and email address saved so I can just copy and paste it when theres an email competition

I'm about to post a few email comps. I don't mind mentioning about the email bit in the title but to be honest I can't guarantee that I'll always remember in the future...(will try though) :D

What a great tip, thanks for that. I usually write out my name, address and phone number then copy it and paste it when I enter a comp. I have now been and set up my signature.

    YOU ARE A GENIUS!!!!! :D

I've a draft email set up with all my details.

I'm rather lazy, so all the normal email ones are saved with the email address in as well, so I just have to add any answer and subject.

My draft folder contains quite a few of these!

  • Perhaps the unwritten protocol is for a relative newbie not to make such a request, in which case I apologise. I wasn't trying to give myself an easy life at the expense of others, I just wanted to raise the subject and see what the responses were.

I'm quite happy to accept that it's not possible or useful or whatever, and definitely feel like I have had my knuckles rapped, so will be a bit more circumspect in future.

Thank you so much for the tip about signatures, I will try that. I just have problems with my work computer opening another browser at the same time, so I can't have my email open at the same time - that's my real problem, but I'll just have to miss those comps if they come up at lunchtime or try to remember which they wereto do at home. np.

Thanks for the friendly posts in reply :)
