    Hi there

If I was you I'd get a taxi, it's very cheap, I always use valuecabs 02890809080. I go out quiet a bit in belfast and if I was you in the Oddessy where the Take that concert is, I'd head to Bar Seven or the salsa bar next door to it (they're both upstairs). On Saturday night I'd go to Cafe Vauldeville or Ollies, it's a lovely place to be and I might even see you there!

A place I like to go for food is The Red Panda in Great Victoria St, there is one in The Oddessy too but I dont know why I dont like it as much.

You should go over to the Northern Ireland board, there was a recent thread about this sort of sort if you search

Hope you enjoy your stay, I love it!

    Hi all,

Right...I think that I have narrowed it down to either The Red Panda or one of the AMPM places for the Saturday night.

Getting there, slowly but surely :)

The Red Panda is chinese, AMPM is steak, sea bass, etc at the smaller one and add Pastas for the larger of the 2

Oh I forgot to add that a good place to eat is McHughs in Custom house square, it's a really nice bar too! The more I thought about it last night, this would probably be my first choice for food!

Hope you have a lovely time in Belfast

    have a great time
  • Hi all

    We're back!

Belfast is a very vibrant city, loads of nightlife, (if you wanted it) and tons of places to take the Guinness :)

We arrived very early on the Friday morning (7.45am) and immediately outside the arrivals door at Belfast City Airport is a coffee shop, we purchased two coffees and sat and watched people.

At about 8.30am the tourist information desk opened and we enquired about transport in to the city itself.

The 600 bus runs just about every half hour from right outside the terminal building and takes you to the Europa bus terminus which, funnily enough, is just behind the Europa hotel. The fare is £1.30 each.

From here we walked into the city centre and headed straight to the Belfast Help centre where we left our cases whilst we had a good long walk around and familiarised ourselves with the general area.
It cost £3.00 for four hours to leave our cases.

There are loads of places to eat and drink and we eventually settled on a small cafe where we had an irish (Belfast? Derry?) breakfast for about £3.00 each

The Take That concert was that same night and therefore we ate in the Odyssey centre about an hour before the concert started. As the queues were bloody massive we chose to have burger and chips in the bowling alley in the Odessey centre. Expensive but better than queuing or indeed nothing.
We walked back to our hotel after the concert and felt perfectly safe.

Saturday starts a day of drinking and eating :)
We had drinks in the Crown and Robinsons, both amazing olde worlde pubs and real drinking houses. (Gas lamps, brill atmosphere, excellent friendly staff)
We took the open top bus tour which filled and hour and a half and we also wandered around the city.
In the evening we went back to the Crown, and Robinsons before eating in the Red
Panda which is just up the road from both of the aforementioned pubs.
I have to say I was'nt overly impressed with the Red Panda but who am I to judge? I have been to better chinese restaurants though, and I have certainly met staff who are much more friendly than they were.

As I have said in previous posts, we stayed at the Premier Inn on Alfred Street and I would like to thank each and every one of the staff who work there. They were all very friendly and helpful.
They were all very very good at what they do, and full marks to all of them. I cannot praise them highly enough.

Belfast is quite stunning and, apart from the staff in the Red Panda, the people are very very friendly.

By the way, Take That were excellent, the stage show was stunning.

    Cheers
