Yes - same here. I don't have a smart phone and we tend to stay in fairly rural areas - not in hotels but in villas. No homeowners on site or handy hotel receptionists. Yes I suppose I could spend time looking around for internet cafes, but I'm on holiday and I don't want the stress of doing this. In addition, they don't seem to be as common as they used to be, and again certainly if you are in a rural area.
I used to be able to check in 2 weeks in advance, and with some airlines 3 weeks in advance. Does anyone know why this time slot is getting shorter and shorter, or is it just another way to encourage customers to pay to select seats ?0 -

How long before the flight takes off do I have to print off the boarding card. Is it 4 hours? In which case I would have to be in the airport hours before my flight or drive to the airport at some point during my holiday (this year a 4 hour round trip.)
OK, so point taken I COULD check in 4 days before the return flight and print out the boarding passes if I put a lot of time and effort into seeking out internet access and a printer. However, the point I was trying to make is that I didn't have to do this - I used to be able to check in both ways before we left, without paying for seat allocation (which I really don't need).
I know that this is something I will have to put up with if I fly with Ryan Air, but given the choice (with price being the deciding factor) I do try to avoid them. The way I have booked holidays in the last couple of years is to do a skyscanner search, find the cheapest flight to a place I like the look of and go there. Makes for interesting and random holiday choices, but also lots of fun.
Maybe time to upgrade my phone?0 -
Or as I have decided, just add the seat cost into our total. Its normally still lots cheaper than all the other so called 'better' airlines0
