Ryanair Baggage charges

Booked our flights from Stanstead to Kefalonia with Ryanair, as they were the only airline with flights on the dates we wanted to go.
I thought I understood the usual caviates - we didn't sit together on the flights out, but were in rows behind each other. This was OK, as my kids are teenagers now.
We had other issues with boarding passes (the airport does accept oes via the app, which Ryanair did not inform us - we were staying in an appartment and had to ask the owner to print our passes for us)
However, I would like some advise about baggages charges.
We bought and paid for hold luggage, but on return to Kefalonia airport, they could not find a record of us paying for bags - and so we were charged 50euros for each of our 3 bags - has any one else had this? Is there any procedure to complain to Ryanair and claim this back? Thanks in advance!

Did you book the flights directly with Ryanair or through a 3rd party? What does your email confirmation says about checked luggage? I have heard of plenty of people complaing that they paid for checked luggage through a 3rd party only to show up and find that Ryanair has no record of it.0

Any chance you only added bags for the outward journey and not the return?
Your confirmation email from Ryanair will detail exactly the bags you booked and how much paid. If indeed you did pay for luggage for the return, then you need to get in touch with Ryanair to claim back your money.0 -
Can Ryanair guarantee sitting apart ?we didn't sit together on the flights out . . .This was OK, as my kids are teenagers now.

Thanks everyone - I will double check the email. Ryanair just seem to go out of their way to make things difficult so they can charge more. Live and learn!0

You have to select number of bags and which weight for each flight. If you didn't do that then you would only have it booked for one flight . Your boarding pass shows the luggage you've booked.0

Ryanair are a great airline as long as you read ALL the small print and take nothing for granted0

Exactly what happened to me this year! I have booked dozens of flights with Ryan Air and know every trick they try and how to avoid excess charges. This year the 4 day window to check in meant that I had no choice other than to pay for seats for the return journey - who can print return boarding passes on holiday?! First time I have ever had to pay to pick a seat as I really don't care where I sit, or if I am with my now grown up family.
All went well until our check in to come home. I was told I had only paid for the bag to go out, but not to return. I have NO idea how that happened - I have never made that mistake before. The very nice lady on checkout said it had happened a lot this summer and thought it was due to a change on the booking page on the Ryan Air website, which made it an easy 'mistake' to make. Luckily I had only one bag between the 3 of us, and it weighed just under 15 kg so it cost 35euros. In fact, I'm not sure if that isn't less than it would have cost at the time of booking as I had played safe and paid for 20k on the way out.
Anyhow -IF I travel with RA again ( I am really trying to avoid due to their cynical splitting up of people with their new seating arrangements and the 4 day check in time slot), I will check, recheck and check again that I have paid for bags on BOTH legs of the journey!0 -
Anyone with a smartphone, using the Ryanair app to check in and produce boarding pass(es). This year the 4 day window to check in meant that I had no choice other than to pay for seats for the return journey - who can print return boarding passes on holiday?!Evolution, not revolution0 -
Anyone staying in a hotel, near a hotel, internet cafe or library.
Summary: anyone.
I regard myself as quite resourceful but have struggled myself to get things printed while away. It is possible but it can be a real ball ache finding somewhere that will do it, particularly if you tend to holiday off the beaten track.0
