    Morning all,

its chucking down today and i'm waiting for a break in the rain so that i can retrieve my bin without getting too wet.

All is well with me, cleaned the skirting boards downstairs this morning and am going to do the upstairs skirting boards this afternoon.

Youngest is annoying me, his room is a pit. He's awake all night and sleep all day. I'm going to wake him in a minute with the vacuum cleaner, I think he has slept long enough.

Many hugs to TA, Dumpling, Silver-Oldie and anyone else in need of one.

    Onwards and forwards,

    have a great day all.

Judi I always think that kids who keep you awake when they are little, and wake up seriously early whilst growing up sometimes seem to have a 'switch on gene that activates itself during puberty :)

My DD has four lads 21,17,16 & 13 and all seem to have activated theirs over the past few years .DGS Ben the eldest boy could turn sleeping into a national sport :)

He is home from Uni at the moment and I rarely see him much before lunchtime :) Jack the next one down I took to drop off at his part-time job this morning and I feel sure he was asleep in my car on the way there at 08.30 a.m. :) the other two Henry and Mikey wander down around 11.30 for breakfast :).Seems to be more prevelant in boys than girls I think .

TA you must be so fed up with all the too-ing and fro-ing all the time and being messed about as well doesn't help

Weather can't seem to make its mind up at the moment one minute raining ,then the sun comes out ,pretty windy as well more like a blustery April showers sort of day.

Taking the boys out to the country park with the dogs once they are all up and awake and in the land of the living once more :):):)

    onwards and upwards chums

Judi- my youngest is seriusly annoying me too! Mostly to do with the issue of paying board. She was happily paying what I think is a reasonable amount until she got friendly with a girl who pays her parents next to nothing! So now I'm being unfair! She seems to think the more she goes out the less she should pay because she's not in the house as much as me!!
Its not that I'm being greedy but she's 18 and earns more than me so I think she needs to learn that life's not free.
    Rant over!
Weather cant decide what its doing today...one morning it's pouring, next lovely sunshine

Mr LW is currently at the GP surgery for his lung function test (from what his friend who has COPD says, they make you blow into a cardboard tube, much like a loo roll inner!) Hopefully this will help in getting to the bottom of the persistent cough he has had for 10 months now.

We shall be getting our next guest tomorrow - a little chap named Fudge. Should be interesting; Fudge dislikes men (he was maltreated by one in his first home) so Mr LW is going to keep a low profile and hope that Fudge comes to realise that he's not going to hurt him.

    Afternoon - and I'm home :j

The trip up the road was lovely again, only short sharp bursts of heavy rain with sunshine inbetween. I've done the shopping for the weekend and now have to unpack, put everything away, fill the bird feeders and open my mail. Then I can sit down and do the online banking stuff before it all goes haywire.

Fudge - what a lovely name for a dog.

His owner told me that when they got him from the rescue centre he was called Frodo; but they felt that really didn't suit him so they gave him a name to reflect his colouring. :o He's a cross between a Jack Russell and a Chihuahua.

You are so right and her friend family are not doing her any favours as the shock of suddenly having to pay for stuff will be harder as she gets older. My eldest at 18 in1987 decided that she thought she was paying too much so I said OK what ever food you buy you will have to pay for yourself your washing you can take to a launderette, and if you use the phone you pay for the calls and everything that you think is free is not i.e. shampoo, toothpaste, hot water, heating, lighting etc. and if you can find me a place where I can live for £25.00 a week all found let me know and I'll move in :)

She lasted three days and then said can we go back to the old way Mum, its just too expensive to buy everything myself :) Bless her it taught her a lesson ,but the £25.00 a week she paid for her keep I put away and returned to her in a lump sum when she got married.

She is now a pretty wised up lady of almost 50 now and always said it was the best thing my OH and I ever did for her ;);)

We had this with Livewires Mum, she couldnt see why she had to pay board when none of her friends did. We did let her off when she was saving for a house with her boyfriend though.

Had the same conversation with Youngest after his accident. Of course if we let him off with paying board he wouldnt be so stretched financially.

Its a hard life being young.:D

  • Fudge the dog - that took me back a L-O-N-G time! My best friend's family, when I was a child, got a bull terrier which they christened Fudge. It wasn't to match his colouring though as he was white!

As expected we have had a day of sunshine and showers and the ever present wind. I am getting heartily sick of this weather now going on and on. The washing is drying nicely upstairs. More so than if I had pegged it out!

I have thrown in the towel for now and having a bit of much needed me time before the DGDs descend after swimming. The giant shepherd's pie is sat waiting to shove in the oven, the carrots julienned and the gravy made. Just peas to get out of the freezer and we are good to go! I may even unearth some little Yorkshires that I have got frozen in the freezer somewhere.

Enjoy the rest of your day if you can folks xx

Sorry to blunder in half way through a conversation, but about kids paying keep, I,m having a head scratching moment.

As some of you will be aware, my youngest (19) finished Uni at Easter due to bullying etc, he is lucky as he found a job pretty much immediately, but as he was still paying his share of the Uni house rent. We just asked him for a token payment towards his keep (£10 pw) we figured he wasn't buying his own food etc being at home, so that was fair.
He is due to pay his final Uni rent next week and is earning a pretty good wage and I have no idea what he should be paying towards the household.

Any ideas would be appreciated :)

Ps love the name Fudge too
