This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone
Hugs for those of you who are going through difficult times.
5.00am wake up has turned into 4.30am this morning. I do hope that this isn’t going to get earlier and earlier. I’ve got my first cup of tea and am going to surf the net for a little while before I get my book out.
Yesterday I spent most of the day dodging the rain. It seemed that every time I went to go out it decided to tip it down. I’m hoping that the forecast is correct and it will be a dry day today.
I’ve got a little bit of washing that I would like to get done if it does look like it will stay dry.
There was a change of plan yesterday for dinner. Instead of the steak that I was going to have as a treat I cooked a small piece of gammon that I had defrosted as well. I was really pleased with it. I cooked it on low in the slow cooker in cider and had that with some veg and a parsley sauce. It made a nice change. I can’t decide whether to use the left overs for a couple of meals or in sandwiches.
Yesterday it was too wet in the afternoon to go for a walk, so I’m hoping that I can get out to the park today. I do enjoy a wander around there. It’s nice to make the most of it in the summer months.
Right, the kettle is calling.
I hope that you all have as good a day as possible whatever you are doing.0 -
Morning Holly and all who follow
Well that's 3 nights of less than 4 hours sleep and it's taking it's toll now, I feel dreadful! It was cats yowling that woke me this morning.
I've got 2 very itchy and painful toes..I can only liken it to chilblains but it can't be that as it isn't very cold. Driving me mad they are and really hurt in my work boots yesterday...so I am dreading it today.
Hugs to all who need them, sympathy to anyone in the sleep deprived club and have a good day allx

Morning everyone
Hollyharvey -thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Light and cloudy but wet underfoot from overnight rain, mostly dry day forecast today though.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg for the menfolk, I had baked fish and caponata, there's some left for tomorrow night's dinner also. Tonight dinner will be frittata with mushrooms and bacon and peppers in it, savoury rice, stuffed baked mushrooms and peppers stuffed with cous cous.
Yesterday I did get the bathrooms cleaned and some general housework - today I need to get the ironing done as the pile is quite large and hope to strip our bed. Also some housework downstairs as did upstairs yesterday.
Healthier eating seems to be working - just stood on the scales and I'm back down to what I was before we went on holiday - so more than pleased with that - so will now keep pushing forward - I want to loose about another 10-11lb then maintain, but see how I feel when I get to that.
I'll be going into town this morning to visit the bank and building society, DS1 needs some new work trousers, so I'll get him those.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning chums,a lot brighter day by the looks of things at the moment yesterday Dd had the day off so we took three of the boys out (jack had to work at his part-time job ) we went to the rangers House in blackheath and it was really nice EH so with the boys already on my ticket and DD listed as my carer it cost us nothing But I did buy a guide book.Got some fascinating stuff there from a collection made by a diamond merchant in the 19th century.Only took about an hour to walk around though and when we came out it was tipping down .Sat in the car eating our picnic then decided as the rain looked set for the day we would take the boys to the cinema at Bluewater .We saw Dunkirk which we all enjoyed and apart from the bad weather we had a nice day out.Today I have to run jack to work first thing then the gardener is coming to weed and mow the garden then its round to Dds with the boys for the rest of the day :0The time is whizzing by and two weeks tomorrow and we are off on our holidays
:):)fingers crossed the weather will be brighter
Hope everyone has a good day and hugs for the poorlies and sad and blue's
Take care all

Morning all
Looks like rain again todaywe have had rain every day for weeks we could do with some sunshine. Its reptile day at work today so lots of snakes and big spiders to hold  will go and have a look and see if I am brave enough !
Chips for dinner tonight with something fro the freezer will go and have a look after this.
Must do a wash tonight to make sure I have enough work t-shirts for the weekend will probably have to put them in the TD.
Right time to get on have good days all xx0 -
Good morning
Thank you Holly for starting us off.
Thank you lovely folk for your support yesterday.
Today is a new day and the sun is shining, so I'm not going to waste it thinking about things I cannot change.
Hope you all have a good dayIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning folks and thanks HOLLY for starting. Another day in paradise here with more sunshine and showers forecast. This weather is getting boring now.
I enjoyed my much needed girls night. The carvery was yummy as usual and I had one too many wines (also as usual!) Now trying to come round with my second coffee.
Yesterday I felt on the verge of a screaming fit sorting out more of Mr TA's appts in Leeds. I told him he might have to get a new secretary soon! He had the pre-op last week and I gave the nurse dates he couldn't come in for the stent change. The first being the 10th when his next injection is due. So what happens but a young chap rings to see if he can go in on the 10th for the stent change. Aaaaargh! They couldn't offer a different date till Sept so I had to try and change the injection day. Not as easy as it may sound but eventually got it organised for Tuesday 8th. So two trips to Leeds next week. What fun. Especially as for the stent op we have to be there for 7.00 a.m!!
Rant over sorry! DD is back today from a very wet week at the caravan as she is working tomorrow. That means we have the three girls coming for tea and sleepover and to amuse all day tomorrow. I am being very brave and doing something other than Bolognese Bake which they want every single Thursday! I shall be in trouble! I have a bag of Sainsbob's Vivaldi spuds (my favourites) starting to sprout so I am going to use them up and make a big Shepherd's Pie instead.
A pile of washing to go in the wm but will it get dry outside? No I doubt it so I shall put it straight on the airers upstairs I think.
Have a good day folks if you can and (HUGS) to all the poorlies, sad or worried who want them. Take care all xxx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone.
Glasgow is still rainy. Everywhere seems rainy.
elf06 - I hope your mum is OK, just shaken is a good outcome.
TA - sorry that the news about MrTA is so mixed and upsetting, my thoughts are with you both. X
I'll be going home this morning after doing some shopping for DM. There'll be more needed for me as I've got visitors arriving tomorrow who are staying until Sunday. It's a BH weekend here but they are from England so need to be home for Monday work. Just got to meal plan.
Yesterday was so peaceful here, I had time to finish one half read book and half read another. So good. Work emails have started already so things won't be so peaceful after next week - I'm not reading them until Monday.
Happy Thursday to all.0 -
Morning All
Well we have alternating showers - drizzle, heavy and very heavy - it's been like it all night too, the garden is beginning to disappear under water.
I had the washing on the airers all day yesterday and overnight, just put it in the TD to finish it off. I'm going to be lazy and hang the t shirts, fold the rest and not bother with the iron!
DD came over yesterday and we went for a lovely walk in the country park nearby. She went home after lunch and I had a snooze on the sofa. This weather does nothing to spark any kind of enthusiasm.
Going to force myself to go for a swim this morning then friends coming for coffee to go over the last minute details of our little holiday tomorrow, we're off to Bydgoszcz in Poland for a few days. I have just about everything ready to put in the case, will buy some sweeties later - for emergencies!
RR - Rather you than me with the reptiles, anything like that makes me feel sick.
Well done on the organising TA.
Happy Thursday! Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone,
Cool and blustery here, have an early docs appointment so will do a quick shop in town as well. My DOH and DSS's are off to the cricket this evening and staying over so will pick up some bits for their breakfasts, they have an airbnb apartment close to the ground which seems to be very good value.
Rosie dog seems back to normal although reluctant for her walk this morning but she is an elderly dog so perhaps just fancied a lay-in.
Thoughts are with all those with troubles, especially TA please take care of you as well x
Have a good day folks x0
