JackieO my grandad was a Dunkirk veteran. At his funeral (a long time ago now) the Dunkirk veterans came and paraded through. My boyfriend wants to see the film but I think we'll have to wait until the DVD comes out. I'm not sure if I want to see it or not tbh.
redruby wow that sounds great. We love our snakes and spiders here. In fact we have a pet snake. She is just amazing and I sometimes take her to visit clubs and schools.
gers thank you. I didn't see her yesterday but I'll see her briefly today. If she is still sore I think I'll try and make her go hospital. More than once it's taken her weeks to go only to find out she's broken bones! And she calls ME stubborn - wonder where I get it from.
Well I haven't opened curtains yet but I can say it's heavy rain!
Hair apt this morning for a quick trim, dog walks then work. Not very exciting but sometimes that's the way I like it
Hope everyone is well - hug to those who want one xxEmma

Morning all and thank you for starting us off Hollyharvey.
A nice, breezy early morning but that dated weatherman has other ideas for the rest of the day so my washing will have to go on the rack indoors.
I worked a 12 hour day yesterday, 5 hours sleep and I'm done for, meant to be on leave now but I will have a day's work to do and I think I will just get the lappy fired up and get it done today.
When I came in, it was raining steadily (was soaked) and then when I went to bed, the heavens had opened, it was quite spectacular even in the dark. Everything smells fresh this morning.
Silver Oldie, I've had a look back at yesterday's thread and I suspect that quite a few of us possibly think our issues are trivial, I often do but then I do have other things going on that are not very trivial but I don't feel comfortable posting about those, even though I know how supportive people are on here.
TA I think your husband's secretary needs a secretary and a chauffeur perhaps!
JackieO it is a mystery how you managed to convince EH that your DD'S was your carer, anyone less in need of a carer. ....I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
i wish we could do hugs! sending positive thoughts if that means anything at all, to anyone who needs them, we all have our own problems, and to us they are big , to others they may seem small0

Morning all,
Tried to be relatively productive last night and done a mid-week clean and I've got 2 lots of washing on the clothes horse drying.
Been to the gym this morning and I've got my dinner date with my gran tonight which I'm looking forward to. I recon I'll leave hers around 9ish and i'll squeeze in some time to read before bed.
Have a lovely day everyone0 -
Morning ((((((((((Hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
I had a lightbulb moment yesterday....for ages I have had pain in various bits of me, hips, shoulders hands.......the Dr told me it was not arthritis...of course it isn't its the fibro rearing its head, suddenly everything made sense.......its a while since I had a flare up, so into rest mode for a bit till it calms down again.
Dull grey day, OH has an appointment at the opticians this morning, he wants to go in on the bus, so we will have to go in on the 9.45 for an appointment at 10.50. Hopefully should get home on the 12.30. Whilst he is getting his eyes tested I am going to the bank and do another couple of errands in the town. So thats Thursday done. We are out tomorrow so the Friday clean will have to wait till Saturday.
Its very windy, the trees are going every which way, we are forecast rain as well at some point.0 -
Another one with poor sleep here- although I can't get to sleep rather than waking up early.
Took SiL to Ascott House near Leighton Buzzard yesterday. It's a small NT house which is still lived in by some of the Rothschilds who owned it. The display of Chinese ceramics is breathtaking, some of them around 1,000 years old and still looking quite contemporary. It's obvious where Moorcroft pottery get their inspiration.
It was too wet to really see the garden so we came home after tea and cake.
We're off to Yorkshire when DH gets back from work so I need to pack and sort the house before we go.0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread Holly. I've been awake since 4:30, but I stayed in bed and read my kindle.
Hugs to SO, the TA's, Dumpling and anyone else in need.
The washing machine is chugging away, once it's finished I'll turn the immersion on and have a shower.
I'll hang the washing on the airer under the cratch, it gets very warm under there so hopefully the washing will dry.
I bought four sausages this morning so it's sausage and mash with onion gravy, spring greens, carrots and courgette for tea tonight.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning all,
Long time no posting, but I have been reading along.
Not much new here - I have just got my first pair of varifocals (living the dream...) and am struggling a bit with the mid-distance (reading and long distance is fine) anyone else had this and is it worth persevering? I feel slightly aggrieved that they cost £560!! (and I'm FAR too young to be wearing them as well!).
I too didn't sleep well. Felt odd yesterday - couldn't really put my finger on why, slight tummy ache, bit light headed. Was meant to go to a show with friends but cancelled and planned an early night, which didn't materialise.
Washing is on at home and the two teens will be texted shortly to hang it outside on the airer. I have been leaving them jobs each day - nothing taxing - empty dw, hoover round, walk the dog etc. It just helps keep the place ticking over while DH and I work full time.
Tonight I plan to go to the gym - have been running 5k twice a week at the gym, plus have just started park run on a Saturday. Feeling slightly fitter and it makes up for sitting at a desk for most of the day!
Dinner tonight is bolognaise bake (TA I am taking your lead!) and I will also attempt to clear the ironing pile as we are off on holiday on Saturday. We are going to Somerset for a week so I hope the weather is kind to us.
JackieO - I saw Dunkirk last week - great film
TA - well done on rearranging all those appointments
SO - hugs to you xx
Apologies to anyone I've missed.
Have a great day all,

Morning all
Well the weather today is unpredictable, the sun, drizzle and heavy rain seem to be taking a turn, the only constant element is a strong wind !
Yesterdays tea turned out to be a lamb casserole which was yummy, and the sewing didn't exactly go to plan . Dh decided he wanted to take up his own trousers so I explained the procedure. Well he tried to sew and lets just say, I now have to unpick and do it myself.
Sorry to those who are still not sleeping very well but I have slept for 12 hrs, two nights on the trot. However last night my ears started playing up and now I'm deaf in one and I can hear a pin drop 3 miles away in the other. I had been off balance, literally, for a couple of days so I think I must have an ear infection. Will put some drops in them in a mo and hope it clears up on its own.
Todays undertakings include cleaning out the piggies, cleaning our bedroom carpet with the Vax, and a general tidy of the kitchen. That's if I feel ok, as at the moment every time I stand I feel like I'm on a ship, oh I wish it were true :rotfl:.
DD and family are having a great time stateside even though the weather over there is mixed too, there are plenty of under cover places to go.
Dad is coming to tea tonight and we shall have a burger and wedgies followed by his favourite Viene*ta, so something very simple.
Hugs to all those that want or need one but I hope everyone has a good Thursday.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Dark skies and it looks like rain so not doing any laundry today.
Had a late bacon, egg and toast breakfast and took out some recycling and a bin bag for the big wheelie bin. Dishwasher is unloaded and just about to tidy the kitchen before cleaner arrives to give me a hand.
TA
Well done on getting the appointment rearranged and it must have taken ages to sort out. It is hard work being ill and even more looking after poorly ones. Fingers crossed for you both.
silver oldie
Hugs and just don't rise to the bait no matter how difficult it gets as you know that is what she wants.
Still sorting out odds and ends of paperwork and will pop out later to post a couple of items. Getting really fed up with the painful knees but hoping x ray results will be helpful eventually.
Hugs to all"This site is addictive!"
