how do you boil the perfect egg?

well i had me boiled egg and soldiers for dinner (todays craving) i looked at delia online and folowed her instructions and the !!!!!!!s were hard boiled :confused:

and for an egg cup i used the egg holder bit out of the fridge as we dont have any egg cups :rotfl:

so how do you boil the perfect egg? delia tells porkies!

i put them in cold water, brought to the boil, simmered for 3 mins 30 secs. it didnt work.

    2 mins 50 secs with a bit of salt in the water- no idea why, my mum used to do it.

    Also use the lid of a baby bottle for an egg cup- it works great :p

  • 3 mins in boiling water then turn off put toast in when toast done remove egg from water butter and cut toast eat a lovley runny eggxx

    For a special treat, use duck eggs.

    Erm, boil for longer.

    She probably wrote it after some generous "liquid" corporate hospitality at a Canaries game! :rolleyes: :rotfl:

  • Definately 3 minutes. And get the tops of early or they will continue to harden up while you're de-shelling! :think:

    All my eggs come out hard boiled :o even with the egg timer on, I only get a little bit of runny yolk, but the rest is well cooked.
