Thanks wideband. I spent £8.50 from my £10 card in Iceland a few months ago. Today I asked the cashier if he would take the remaining £1.50 off today's bill, and he said I had a nil balance. :o(

Have you checked online with the L2S people.  You need the card number to check.

I use mine in Iceland and I think on one occasion there wasn't enough left on the card and therefore I had to pay separately.  It appeared they couldn't work out how to take anything less than the full bill amount.  It may also be that they can't actually check the balance on the card.
  • I've checked and I was correct, there's £1.50 left on it. Wonder if I have to spend exactly £1.50 for the card to work?

In Iceland that shouldn't be too difficult.  (Or you could spend less but with enough left to make another purchase.)

I think it may be the case that they can't actually see the balance (which is why the till operator thought there was a nil balance because the total bill was higher and the card was declined) because it is not their own brand card.  Good job they didn't offer to take the card from you to dispose of it.

When you use the L2S card in Iceland, the till receipt doesn't show the balance left whereas when I use an M&S voucher the M&S receipt does that together with a note about the time validity of the card.

You will have to tell them how much you want to spend on the card or they will try to take the full shop amount and it will decline unless the bill is less than the card balance.

Absolutely this answer...i get the same when in wilkos the till dont recognise the amount left you need to tell them how much you wish to redeem.

Just had one of those awkward moments, came out of my house to go to the post box in the next street to send a test letter. My friendly Postman was just delivering in the street and offered to take it for me! :o  Had to make up a story about needed into get my steps in as I don't do as many miles a day as he does! Thankfully he laughed and off I went, phew! :D

They probably do but at this was an outgoing letter there was nothing to show it was a test one however I would have had no way to report it as sent on their website if I'd taken up his kind offer.
