No frittering here, unless you count reduced salad stuff from the co-op on the way back this afternoon. Needed for packed lunches tomorrow so still less than letting him loose in the city centre to buy something.
Vague plan of ham, egg and SW chips for dinner, and make something sweet for the boys while the oven is on as the cupboards are rather bare. Just enough wet cat food to get us till tomorrow, must make a list and actually use it for once. Having a flare which makes me even more of a goldfish than usual.
Dragged myself up the garden to look at the espalier trees, the plums are ripe and there are plenty of cooking and eating apples to pick so the nettle removal is now urgent. Must sort this, such a waste otherwise.
Too tired and sore for tedious :-( Maybe try and do an hour later. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

In a fit of genius, I took a large flat cardboard box up and used it to squash a path through the nettles to the plum tree. Picked a couple of pounds and can probably reach a lot more without hassle. They are probably victorias, not that sweet. Must remember to see if the damsons are ripe on the longer dog walk, much prefer damson jam to plum.
Saw some baby frogs, some tiny (and very pretty) cyclamen and that the black grass is thriving on starvation and neglect :cool:My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Huge Lidl shop done this morning as I needed to re-stock most things, current account now scarily empty ahead of weekly pay tomorrow. Bought reduced mince and a no freeze stuffed chicken so will make chilli for OH and roast the chicken for me and the boys, and lunches over the next few days.
Massive increase in the price of Lidl packet butter for cooking with, now up to £1.30/250g, must check the co-op. Last time this happened it took weeks for the co-op to increase their price. In the meantime I'll just use the cheaper spreadable stuff which works out at 0.88/250g.
Had to go into the big bad city with boy 2 for an appointment, £7 on parking and then we nipped round the city centre (he is 13 and had never been!) and frittered on some jelly beans for me and candy floss for him. Home via the big co-op at half price time, two more chickens and some beef medallions into the freezer. Wish the village one did half price, they do 30% which makes them about the same as Lidl anyway. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Maybe you should serve nettles at every meal until the nettle problem is solved?0

I guess it would make a change from binning things I have paid for Greenbee
Out at the paid thing again today, 19 hours this week. Tedious currently at 7 so I have to do at least another 3 hours. My weekly payday, and OHs monthly so need to have a look and start planning over the weekend. Might help us to contain spending if we can see a net improvement. Credit cards came out clear but now I have an OH work hotel bill to pay to keep them that way. Must make sure he does his expenses and mileage over the weekend. We run one card just for his fuel and work expenses which is cleared by me in full every month, even if he doesn't make the payment cycle for work. I refuse to pay to lend work money so we have always done this. Bit concerned that the mortgage people won't like the amount of credit cards/limits we have access too. We both have three...My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Mortgage co. didn't seem that bothered by my credit cards. I had three originally but one didn't get used enough so I stopped it. I guess it depends on the level of debt, but the one that gets paid off in full should earn you brownie points.
Do you have another weekend of prepping the house for inspection?0 -
Yes, forecast is good at least.
We had a few cards in use this year - his work and travel and my household, both of which get cleared in full every month, and then two 0% cards which got cleared over the last two years, reducing to the one for the last 18 months but now cleared. Never did minimum payments, always over paid. Don't even have cards for the 0% ones so we couldn't be tempted to use them, and we set up DDs for the minimums and then did payment on top so couldn't miss. Actual credit score should be good, although I applied for (and got) a cheap travel credit card in April but this again was used abroad and cleared immediately. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Tedious now at 10 hours, hurrah
Things that I must remember 'need' using up/reduced or planned and not used:
Cherry toms - lots, overripe and fairly tasteless. Probably need roasting with sugar and some spice.
2 kg carrots - boys like them raw but suspect these will go off before they get through them
37 eggs - very reduced. It could be a three brunch weekend so these will mostly go on scrambled eggs
A small Aubergine (I can make it at home for less, using only a small aubergine...)
The remains of the roast chicken - probably with couscous shortly as I CBA to cook
Half a pound of cheddar - eat or grate and freeze
Gorgonzola. Eat. All by myself when nobody is looking. Deny all knowledge and accuse the dog of stealing it. She actually did take the brie off the worktop the other night, much to Boy 1s unhappiness. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I'm having roast veg for breakfast most mornings. Maybe you could include the cherry toms in your brunch? Or turn them into soup (ditto the carrots).
I have a weekend of gardening planned...0
