I (and several other diarists it appears) am having a meh! moment about all this not spending, and it made me think of diets. That's exactly how my finances are at the moment, there are things that I want (not need, just want), I don't want to care about the consequences (moment on the lips, lifetime on the credit card doesn't have quite the same ring does it?) and I am bored of being good. Just one little cream cake. Ooh and another. And now I might as well finish the pack. Meh! This too shall pass. Anyway, in between bewailing my lack of income and ability to spend I did some more cleaning and had a rare run of PA survey so not all bad.
CBA faffing about with curry base sauce (especially not on my newly cleaned hob) and was looking at the defrosted chicken with a total lack of enthusiasm (Want cream cakes. Wah!) but then remembered this thai green curry recipe which is fast, easy and tasty. No tinned potatoes so the last of the new pots have been quartered and steamed. The spares will join the mushrooms in some sort of brunch tomorrow. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I know what you mean about diets. I had one bounty yesterday and it reignited my love of bounties. Previously not had one for years. It was like I forgot they existed and now I have remembered. If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Hi. I had forgotten fly lady existed I used to follow that lol. Have you seen a bowlful of lemons as well ? That's another good cleaning routine. I know what you mean about lack of enthusiasm , takeaways are my weakness although I've not fallen off the wagon for ages now. Must. Stay. Focused. Haha.0

Not spending is hard and so is not eating
. Clothes and chocolate are my nemeses. Sometimes I feel quite fed up at not being able to buy either of them. Still can't shift that pesky nine pounds from around my middle though .

DIA I used to love the bounty ice cream bars, fatal to think about these things
:hello: hi storm, no 'bowlful of lemons' is a new one on me, I'll have a look. I've been on and off flylady for years on my main account but currently not even lurking. Can't keep up, just something else to try and do.
HHOD I know, I have half a stone to shift again. Most of the clothes in the shops are bright/patterned so I'm not remotely tempted but I still want a really good cream cake. If I put any more on then I will have nothing that fits.
Some progress today on the cleaning, I did a bit of the dining room and OH has put some of his stuff away which helps. Also done all of the ironing, and a bit of baking. Bread rolls for the boys, and worlds thinnest pastry for a quiche in a loaf tin. We are now completely out of bread flour and plain flour. The pastry was a one ounce mix but I managed to cover the base of a loaf tin and make a slicing cheese and bacon quiche for packed lunches. Last of the grated cheese gone from the freezer too.
I also made some more of the gluten free peanut butter cookies, but reduced the peanut butter to half a tub (170g instead of 200g) and made up the shortfall with value salted peanuts (1 egg, 125g sugar, 170g PNB, 30g peanuts, mix to make a dough, teaspoons worth into a ball then flatten, 12 minutes at 180). Really nice biscuits, and more practical given the half a jar rather than just over half a jar each time.
Made an experimental thing from the co-op magazine which used the last of the cocoa powder and two of the frozen bananas. One of those odd recipes that feels like something is missing. It doesn't quite fill the tray size they specify and the result was some very thin baked banana chocolate custard slice. Not great tbh but then I'm not keen on custard or very dark chocolate. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

oh, and a rant:
In February I bought a new Sw@n microwave from Amzn. yesterday it blew up - smoke, burning etc. Good job it was me, not the boys, etc as in a very de ja vu moment of carrying the smoking microwave out to the patio. Amzn expect you to take the return to a parcel shop and then wait a week for a refund/replacement - for me the nearest one is in the city, ten mile round trip plus parking, and a 10kg box to carry. Not happening. Then they agreed I could arrange my own courier and they would refund the cost to my balance, 5-7 days and not a cash refund but more credit that I don't want. Really rubbish support, and I will not buy electrical from them again. Its hard to find out how to actually contact them, and the first position was contact the manufacturer! Anyway, a replacement was purchased in Argus this morning. Lets hope this one lasts longer. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Boo to the microwave
Argos customer service is brilliant but hopefully you won't need it.
I'm another one who likes the idea of Flylady, I've tried to do it in the past, but just don't have the time or dedication.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
I got on OK with FlyLady once I had done the decluttering, which to be fair she does tell you to do first. It doesn't work quite so well if you are reshuffling things or feeling guilty every time a room comes round.Debt free May 2016... DFW#2 in progress

That's really annoying how Amazon have dealt with it. Can they not give you the refund in actual cash into your account of you ask ? I would be so annoyed. I second the comment about Argos customer service so hopefully it anything goes wrong this time it'll be sorted quickly.0

Love the peanut butter cookies. Looking forward to making these as they are naturally GF and they will be a lovely treat. (When I get a kitchen and an oven!)
Sorry about the microwave
I hadn't realised Arg0s had good customer service. I will bear that in mind...If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them
