    I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think so. I think she would make it more difficult if it went through the trial process than if not.

    Well then you have to ask yourself why she called the police in the first place if not to see you prosecuted.

    That may well be the case, but as anyone knows who has read one of those articles headlined "Police reveal most stupid calls to 999", some people think that ringing the police is a valid way of signalling you are really cross, without considering the legal implications or the effect it has on others.
    i dont understand why we use force for compliance, especially as people always say and as the OP has said: not to hurt or to leave a mark. If my husband went to work and said he'd hit me would it be ok if he told everyone he didnt leave a mark and hes sure it didnt hurt me?

    If you act intolerably towards your husband he can leave you. A parent doesn't have that option with a child.
