Why would you choose a solicitor recommended by an estate agent?
Surely the estate agent wants a sale to go through regardless?
It's always seemed like a conflict of interest to me...

in order to have the deferred fee option with Purplebricks you have to use their conveyancers

I think it's a case of 'getting what you pay for'. They are fine dealing with the routine conveyancing paperwork, and when I used them I found them businesslike and efficient. The problems come when local knowledge and advice/representation are needed. PPL seem to see the whole buying/selling process as only a transaction and do not seem to be 'on your side' as I think a conventional local solicitor would be.

Many vendors have to use PPL as part of their contract with Purple Bricks. A good reason to not look at house marketed by them.

  • Took 9 months to buy/complete on a newish property that was empty ...how difficult can that be??  Promised a quick completion and put my stuff in storage and moved in with a friend when I was advised same day exchange & completion was imminent...big mistake! PPL suddenly stopped communicating and didn’t provide final documentation at last minute. There was a small (straight forward) issue which should have been picked up at the outset, and for months they refused to answer calls from seller and their agents as well as my solicitors. Couldn’t escalate to higher authority; I threatened to pull out more than once - but nothing worked - very frustrating and unprofessional.  My solicitors finally talked them through what they needed to do in the end - obvious lack of knowledge and experience. I reluctantly held out as prices had meanwhile gone up and I had already paid all my legal fees. It also cost me a lot of money for temporary accommodation for 7 months and storage costs and seller obviously was out of pocket having to keep covering bills, mortgage etc while these so called 'lawyers' dragged their feet.  I'm amazed looking at the poor feedback on various forums that they are still operating.  Would never buy a property again if the seller uses PPL and would certainly not recommend them.  My advice - read the reviews and feedback and spend a little more on professional solicitors/conveyancers.

  • My vendors are using them, and I agree: utterly useless. My solicitor has had a few professional-but-not-best-pleased comments about them! Absolutely ridiculous.
  • We had a reasonably pain-free experience with them but seeing as we were paying cash and the property we were buying was empty with no mortgage on it, it should have been done in a few weeks, instead of the twelve it took.

As much as it pains me to defend premier property lawyers.. it's never going to take a few weeks,   A lot of local searches can take three weeks to come back, they still have to raise enquiries, have them answered and report to you.

Unfortunately you aren't their only client and they base their model on pile it high sell it cheap!!

I bet you'd complain quick enough though if you found something out after purchase that you felt you should have known before...!

Please do NOT use Premier Property Lawyers Ltd based in Leicester.

We are currently buying a house & our vendor is using them.
Our Solicitor has had queries eoutstanding since the 30th May & can NEVER get to speak the anyone so has to leave a message & Email but has had no responses.
Our vendor is having the same trouble.

They were recommended to our vendor by PurpleBricks. I have since contacted PurpleBricks to ask them to chase up Premier Property Lawyers & even they can't get any repsonse from the correct person.

We are seriously considering walking away as our solicitor has said there is nothing more they can do until they hear back.

If you are selling your house through PurpleBricks please do yourself & your buyer a big help by choosing a different conveyancing firm!!
If only I’d have know. It’s taken 7 months of failures and I lose my new home in 3 days because of PPL - to be avoided.
