I know someone whose estate agent 'lost' a set of the keys. Not long after they moved in, the place was burgled, someone had just used a key to unlock the door and taken what they wanted, even the car.

I wouldn't take any chances over such a simple job as changing the locks, it was the first thing I did when I moved, and I'd change them again if a set was lost. And whenever I go out I take my car keys with me. Call me paranoid if you like...

Also, I did not change the toilet seat, just cleaned it, and there was no toothbrush holder :<

It was one of the first things I did when I moved last year, upgraded the locks while we were at it.

The vendors seemed a lovely couple and I doubt we would have had any issues had we not changed them but we intend to be here for a while, so why take the risk.

On our last move we arrived to find the previous owners VERY disorganised. They were still moving their stuff out long after our removal lorry parked up. They claimed there was only one key for the front door and the back had none. Needless to say the locksmith was our first visitor.
