Blimey! We are on our second lot of buyers and I thought that was bad enough!
Hopefully it will all be worth it when you move in (if/when for me!).0 -

From offer to completion will be exactly 10 weeks which I suppose is good even though it was getting a bit frustrating at the end.0

Congrats westv!! :j0

Congratulations westv! Bet that feels good
No sign of letter from solicitor here  Probably unlikely to happen today now, which means yet another week of NO PROGRESS AT ALL
I confess I lost it a bit this morning and set up a Spreadsheet of Blame, listing all the days since we accepted an offer on our house, and highlighting which person (us, buyer, our vendor, broker, lender, solicitor) was responsible for the delay at each point. :rotfl: Told you I'd gone a bit mad:rotfl:
So far it's been 109 days since we accepted an offer - all this includes weekends.
So far broker is in the lead with 23 days of messing about.
We are second with 20(12 days to find new house, 3 when I didn't do anything because I had food poisoning, and 5 when I was waiting for my payrise to happen so the bank would accept confirmation)
Seller a surprising third place with 16 days - surprising because they were all in one go while waiting for a simple answer to a simple question the other week.
Lender in 4th place with 14 days (several of those coming back with increasingly lower offers)
Buyer joint 4th with 14 days (to be fair, they got their house ready, put it on the market and found a buyer in that time and that's been their only delay)
Solicitor in 6th place (although rapidly increasing) with 12 days - most of those in the last week and a half
Completely pointless but did make me feel marginally better and justified in being cross at the mortgage broker :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
LOL Daff - house buying drives us all a bit mad and you've had a worse time than most!
If it helps, our broker lost us two weeks while he said he'd applied for our mortgage but hadn't.0 -

Same. So frustrating. And totally ridiculous. :wall:Cheery_Daff wrote: »I confess I lost it a bit this morning and set up a Spreadsheet of Blame, listing all the days since we accepted an offer on our house, and highlighting which person (us, buyer, our vendor, broker, lender, solicitor) was responsible for the delay at each point. :rotfl: Told you I'd gone a bit mad:rotfl:
OMG I love this! I'm still sat here waiting for any tiny sign of progress, so I might do the same to keep me busy! :rotfl: Saying that, the entire delay is down to the NHS, and Halifax - they are definitely not giving us extra! :mad:Property buying/selling timeline - currently into week 21

:rotfl: I'd love it if you set up a Spreadsheet of Blame too Natbag :rotfl:
And as for your broker forgetting to apply for the mortgage Clueless  I don't know how some people hold down a job sometimes!
If solicitor doesn't pull his finger out this afternoon he will get today and the bonus days of the weekend added on to his tally, which will bump him into 4th place
Do you think if I tell him that it'll spur him on? :rotfl:0 -
Congratulations westv! Fab news!
I got fed up of still waiting for an update so phoned the EA. She's got in touch with our buyer who is happy with our requested completion date :j He's emailing his solicitor's back asap to say this, so hopefully they will pass on the news to our solicitor today when they receive his email.
It doesn't look like we'll exchange today now, but it's a relief to know our completion date has been agreed and hopefully we can exchange early next week.Thank you to everyone who posts on here0 -
Cheery Daff - our mortgage was sorted immediately, it's our buyers' mortgage. Their lender (Halifax) requested a work reference (NHS) and it took 4 weeks to get it, then they requested another document, and now they are just being really slow at issuing the contract. :wall:
Definitely think you should tell your solicitor that - but record the call so we can all listen! :rotfl:Property buying/selling timeline - currently into week 21
