The Christmas waiting game.... we could have exchanged/completed last week, but as Christmas got closer others in the chain didn’t want to. We could have done it next week, but everything’s closed. So the 5th January it is.... two weeks of twiddling my thumbs and packing.0

Anyone calling solicitors today for updates or is it pointless?! Will they be winding down and ready to close. Ours is open over the break other tjan the bank holidays although buyers solicitors and one we buying are not. We believe almost everything has been completed and waiting for contracts and reports and then arrange dates?!1

We where due to exchange yesterday for completion on 5th jan. Only to get a call from my solicitor yesterday to say buyer has pulled out. No reasons cited, they walked away. Broken hearted, but trying to stay positive. House back on rightmove and hopeful to still be able to buy the house we want if we can get new buyer asap. Fingers crossed for you all :-)

Our vendors pulled out (twice) but we've managed to exchange on sale & start purchase process on another place, whose buyers also pulled out on 'agreed' exchange date. We're all living in what looks like a self storage/Amazon type warehouse.0 -
13/10 Offer accepted
11/11 Homebuyer Report, Searches and mortgage offer received
Since the 11/11 I have been told just waiting on leasehold management pack. Called EA for udpates and they said vendors purchase is complete and just waiting on vendors solicitor sending info (or receiving it from management) to my solicitor. Is this typical wait period? I'm a FTB its making me anxious as im approaching the end of my renting tenancy (can't extend as housemate is moving out).
Is it acceptable to keep ringing the EA every week for an update? My solicitor emailed to say we received some replies to enquiries on the 16/12 but that there were still a few outstanding as well as the management pack.
once received the management pack, assuming no issues (humour me...) how long could I expect to complete after this point?
Driving myself a bit crazy thinking about this everyday.0 -

18/10 - vendor asked for higher offer (still under asking price). Offer accepted.
20/10 - information passed to estate agents. All solicitors instructed.
26/10 - applied for mortgage (10% with Nationwide).
27/10 - Nationwide arranged date for valuation.
03/11 - Nationwide conducted valuation.
10/11 - Nationwide asked for more information, mortgage advisor. Supplied.
12/11 - solicitor received contract pack. Paid solicitor fees + searches sent.
25/11 - mortgage offer received.
22/12 - searches due back (nearly 6 weeks after requesting!)
It's been 10 weeks since our offer was accepted, and still no exchange/completion date. This is on top of the 12 weeks we wasted on the house we had an offer accepted on previously, where the vendors completely dragged us along! All together it's been 23 weeks since we started the house buying process, and I've watched so many people I know buy homes along the way. Hoping for end of January/early February, but won't hold my breath. 🤞🏻
We had our offer accepted on 2/10, so we're around 12 weeks in and had to pull out of a previous purchase. Our searches were returned on 22/12 but our solicitor has been far from responsive. We weren't even sure they'd sent off for searches until they came back because we'd had no correspondence for 8 weeks!
So far the searches are the only info we've had from them, but I'm assuming they must've completed the enquires?
Got sent our mortgage confirmation stuff from the solicitors 23/12 also.
Hoping we can exchange/complete next month... But not gonna hold my breath either!1 -

I'm setting my expectations more for February now, but feel like that's even optimistic with how the last 6 months have gone!0
