I know some people say to chase as often as possible and others say to just let the solicitors do their work.
The last I heard was 03/12 my solicitor said they were waiting for the contract from the sellers solicitors and then would start the searches. I’ve heard nothing since?

I am so fed up of waiting to exchange. Our solicitor received our last search result back nearly 5 weeks ago, but it doesn’t look like we will be exchanging before Christmas. The only outstanding thing is some info we need from the sellers which should really take about half an hour to get - our solicitor first requested it over a week ago. And obviously everyone in the chain needs to agree dates but given that our sellers’ solicitor doesn’t answer the phone or reply to emails, I struggle to see how that will happen!

Atm we have to complete on 27th Jan or we won't be moving due to mortgage offer expiring. So I have a wardrobe of packed box's, no room for Xmas presents, had to redo the under stairs cupboard to get the Xmas decs out. It's been hell. IF we can get our new buyers solicitors to actually raise any enquiries and by some miracle get over the line, then we will probably start packing the weekend before. It's been a while since we did it, but we have four kids, two who are teens so we have many hands to help.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉0

Due to exchange today but doubt our solicitors will bother as they’re too busy with completions today apparently!0

FTB buying chain free house. Mortgage already in place due to previous fall through so just needed porting to a new property.
12th October - After some negotiation, offer accepted
16th October - Contracts received, solicitors instructed to begin searches (we thought!)
28th October - NatWest down value house 16k below offer
24th November - Independent valuation, survey completed (no concerns). Revised offer accepted.
28th November - Contacted solicitors, searches only submitted previous week!!) Enquires raised.
8th December - Mortgage offer received
8th December - Searches back, all fine. Enquires resolved. Additional search for mortgage requested and returned in a day.
12th December - Awaiting mortgage report and deed to sign, all other paperwork in order.
18th December - Solicitor on compassionate leave no further progress.
Seller is being very pushy, wanted exchange before Christmas (not sure why she's so persistent!) and is getting a bit ratty that it's now looking unlikely unless our solicitors firm can get another solicitor on the case, and even then a long shot.
Hopefully everything goes smooth sailing from here and we'll be competing early Jan, a nice ~3 month easy transaction fingers crossed!1 -

My solicitor called them to ask when they would send it and they were just told soon!0 -
Well everyone seems like we are about to exchange at 4pm on Friday 🤞2

No exchange for me today- a few outstanding queries in the chain still and one of the solicitors is shutting for Christmas today. After flurry of emails and calls this morning I knew it wasn't going to happen.0
