  • I saw the conveyancer yesterday to sign the paperwork... and it turns out that the other side hadn't sent the management pack through, which was asked for in his first email! And the flat's title is still somehow in the name of the owner before this one! My conveyancer is working with the guy who did the conveyancing for the vendors last time to fix things because their current solicitor is less than useless. They said that there was no gas to the building... except that there's a gas boiler in the kitchen. I'm very glad I chased the safety certificates now.

So I am also delayed until January, which, ugh, but does mean I can lump another £200 into my help to buy ISA before I close it.

For those of you potentially moving in Jan, where are you with your packing? Our potential date is 14th abs I don’t even have boxes yet.

Don't even have any expected dates yet, but have already thinned out the loft and planning to do shed and kids rooms over the Christmas break, hubby is self employed so I have to make the most of him when he has time off.

@Coopsy85 we have a potential date but nothing will be confirmed until Jan and by then if we haven’t packed anything I feel it will be a lot to rushing. My hubby is self employed too and finishes work on Friday until the 4th and then we’re really hoping he only has to take a couple of days off for the move
  • mm1985 I bought my boxes from www.kitepackaging.co.uk.  If you've got books the 18 x 12 x 12 double bunded size is perfect.  I've packed everything I don't use regularly.

We’re exchanging/completing on the 5th and I’ve got everything packed except things needed daily (Argos do a good set of packing boxes). Including most clothes since we’re WFH and don’t use as much. Of course things could still fall apart, but I’d be immediately looking for a new house if that happened. The thing is, you don’t know how much stuff you’ve got until you start packing, so it was a good opportunity to have a time-consuming clear out. I didn’t want to be doing that over Christmas.

We are waiting for Exchange (was supposed to happen two weeks ago) and hopefully moving on January 8th. I haven't started packing yet until we exchange as we will have 3 weeks in between to pack which should suffice given we are in a one bed flat.
We do have a lot of stuff and a lot of clothes. But as I am WFH clothes aren't a problem to pack early.

@gab3x If we waited for exchange we’d only have two days to pack 😱

I’ve just ordered boxes so hopefully it doesn’t all fall through now. But with all major milestones crossed, searches back, surveys done and enquiries returned there is nothing else we can do
