Jumping on. Our timeline so far (ftb)
17 aug.. dip
19 aug .. we put offer on a house
20 aug .. morgage application submitted
28 aug.. solicitors instructed
6 sep.. searches ordered
20 oct.. valuation instructed (finally)
24 oct.. offer produced
3 nov (today).. still waiting on local authority searches due today apparently.
We are moving out of rented into our first home and our tenancy agreement runs out on 28 nov. Morgage took forever. Solicitors saying exchange of contracts by 13th and completion on 20th so we have everything crossed it all goes to plan as starting to get a little impatient. The property is empty so no chain at all either end.1 -
Does anyone know does the solicitor need the mortgage redemption statement before exchange can happen? We are trying to exchange today, but they still have not received our statement from Natwest?0

Jumping in here.
Chain of 7
I am third in the chain, accepted an offer on the 25th August for sale of my house and had an offer accepted on a house end of August. Surveyor results back 16th September. Fast forward and there is one property in the chain where the survey hasn't even taken place yet. After following up regularly with the agents and solicitor, this was never mentioned and only surfaced today. I suspect no chance to discuss exchange dates until at least the end of November/Dec.1 -
Well no exchange today, hopefully tomorrow 🤞2

Last of our searches came back on 31/10, I’ve been told today that enquiries have been sent to the seller. Keeping everything crossed 🤞 for completion by 20th November.1 -

Okay, I think it's time that I hopped onboard. First time buyer, currently renting, and doing it on my own around a very full time job, so I've not been the fastest and there've been a couple of 'hiccups' along the way (to be fair, neither of which were my fault)...Aug 15th - offer made on 1 bed flatAug 20th - offer acceptedSept 2nd - solicitor instructedSept 15th - mortgage applied for, meant to include a homebuyer's survey!Oct 6th - we discover a massive problem has occurred with the lease extension and it's not properly registered. The vendors have missed this, even though they've lived there two years. Everything comes to a huge halt and I'm told not to spend a penny more. I howl into the void.Around this time, can't remember the exact date: mortgage advisor drops bomb that actually the building society don't do homebuyer's reports on flats, which he didn't know. He makes a hapless Brummie apologise to me profusely. I could really do without this.Oct 23rd - Lease deed of variation application is given to Land Registry and asked to be expedited. Searches finally ordered! Survey rebooked. It's been a right saga, basically. Survey will be in the 3rd week of November, which feels very far away but couldn't be helped. The vendors are moving into a new build and their representatives are now hassling my conveyancer to get on with it without the land registry application being resolved. To be honest I'm quite thankful they've stopped hassling me, because they called me on a weekly basis during my work day and it was getting wearing. Hopefully I'll be in by Christmas??? Not hopeful tbh.I get the feeling I'd be considered a bad buyer, but I've really tried my hardest to get it all done!1
