Oh my GOD!! The incompetence!! That is absolutely outrageous! Do you have a direct line to the buyer to tell them that you are losing your onward because of them and their solicitors?
Is there no way you can appeal to your onward purchase? Surely they don't want to have to start this process again and shell out yet more money....
It is very sad but our mortgage is coming to an end & we are buying off people who are bankrupt (nothing wrong with this just needs all the trustees to agree etc) which complicates matters somewhat.
I have told estate agent that we are fuming but we are powerless to do anything else

After waiting 2 weeks with not a peep from anyone the solicitors agent finally answers. My solicitor has been on annual leave for 2 weeks. Didn't even have an out of office set ! Ugh. No wonder there has been no response. Waiting for a callback while they review my file. Partner says I'm not being pushy enough.. im used to being patient but this is definitely a test ! haha Hope everyone else is getting answers0

Buyers dont need to physically sign the contracts. They could, from their place of holiday, send a written confirmation to the solicitors authorising the solicitor to sign on their behalf. Has that been suggested.
And presumably in any event, your buyers are somewhere where they can print a document, sign it and send a photo of the signed document to the solicitor.0 -

Whilst this is fab advice it takes someone actually being proactive to get it sorted!!

Contract and all other paperwork signed and returned today, I'm going to send the deposit tomorrow - I only need to send 10% so what do I do with my other 5% do I send this on completion?
Now all we can do is wait.
I'd like to exchange soon, and hopefully complete at the start of December, then I can use the holiday season to decorate and get it ready to move in.0 -
Sunday 04/11 We had our offer accepted
Monday 05/11 Spoke to broker
Tuesday 06/11 Mortgage application with HSBC. Proof of income and proof of deposit provided
Thursday 08/11 Mortgage valuation
Tuesday 13/11 Mortgage offer! Booked HomeBuyers Report survey
I'm baffled that the mortgage offer only took a week. I can't believe how fast this is moving. The only slow thing so far seems to be the conveyancer - we got quite a few quotes, and ended up going with one of the estate agent's recommendations. The estate agent contacted the conveyancer on our behalf (or so we are told), but we haven't heard a peep from them yet. Chased the estate agent this afternoon, who is chasing the conveyancer to contact us and get the ball rolling!
Assuming nothing scary comes up in the survey, we could be in before Christmas at this rate.Wedding savings Jan 19: £1.4k. Sept 19: £7.5k. Mar 20: £12.6k
Goal: Pay for wedding by August 20200 -

Yes, the remaining 5%, Stamp duty (if any) and solicitor fees are due before completion (you should receive a completion statement).0 -
Can I join in. I’m hoping to exchange by early next week with completion date in early December. I’m in a 4 link chain with myself being last but one. I think it’s been a pretty speedy process.
4/9 put our house on market
6/9 obtain DIP
18/9 accept offer on our house
24/9 offer accepted on the house we want to buy
27/9 mortgage application made and solicitor instructed
4/10 valuation and mortgage offer received
8/10 receive seller pack to fill in
25/10 searches come back all fine
So we are hoping for it to be as quick as putting house on market to completion in 13 weeks.Make £10 a day in May- £90/£1500 -

Thank you, I was sure it would be along those lines,
I really hope further up the chain start to get their end sorted, I'm itching to move on with the process. I'm holding fire to give notice on our rental property until we exchange, and I know it could still go wrong but I'm getting excited at the prospect of 1. making somewhere my own and 2. not having a landlord (as lovely as mine is, it will be nice)0 -
I'm on thin ice here ! Still no call or email back from solicitor. If we don't exchange this week I assume completion won't be happening next week. I want to cry. I'd rather be told it's not happening so I can think about something else in my day rather than sit here and wonder.
I hope someone else has some joy soon.0
