Liquoricet I'm tempted to get our current neighbours done for fly tipping today  it's a rented house and the owners are ripping the kitchen and cellar out - today they've left the biggest pile ofcupboards, rotting carpets and sodde mattresses outside the back door in the yard we share with about 7 other houses
A proper eyesore, but doesn't really impinge on us practically - just feeling sorry for the people who have to navigate round it to get into their houses!! they'd best shift it tomorrow!!
Makes me so mad - I'm pretty sure they wouldn't leave it outside their own house, so why is it acceptable to leave it outside the one they rent out?! :mad:0 -
Amanda -them buying something else shouldn't delay their responses to enquiries. Commitment means they need to pull their finger out and sell their house not just worry about their next rung on the chain!Mortgage Apr 18 £417,894 BTL Mar 18 £162,857
Mortgage now -- £350,085 BTL now --- £162,6680 -
So timeline:
Viewed 11/11/17
Offer 12/11/17
Accepted 13/11/17
Mortgage Offer 01/12/17
Survey 04/12/17-Threw up a few issues with chimney stack, guttering, no building regs for window
Tried to renegotiate price but vendors flatly refused.
SOlicitors instructed but all shut down due to Christmas.
As of today we are still in limbo, although solicitors have come back and said vendors are taking out indemnity policy for the lack of building regulations. Another issue is that it was advertised as being on mains water, this is incorrect it has a meter. The vendors are also now saying they are taking some of the carpets with them.
We are now wondering where this leaves us, are we able to renegotiate on the price given that we are potentially days away from completion? There is just us and them as the house they are buying is empty.
Any advice??0 -
another week, and no sign of exchange coming any closer
just to depress myself a little further, I've decided to count the weeks since my offer was accepted, and we're coming close to the 10th week! Considering I'ma FTB, the house is empty and no chain is involved, am I right feeling a bit disappointed?
Hopefully things will wrap up a bit this week and we can finally proceed to exchange. That is, if my solicitor tells me their bank details for the deposit and start sending over the docs to sign!GC £~~/3000 -

I'm about 20 weeks in. 10 isn't too bad tbh even for no chain...shouldn't be much longer for you.0 -
Hi everyone.
I!!!8217;ve been reading all your journeys for weeks now but been too fed up to post my own. Offer accepted on my partners house, end of August, 22 weeks later and still hasn!!!8217;t exchanged, just one other in the chain below as we aren!!!8217;t buying a new one just yet.
I!!!8217;m emotionally exhausted and sick to death of estate agents not giving the full picture and something else cropping up on the buyers property sale every time we get close to exchange.
Supposed to have exchanged Friday but didn!!!8217;t happen, apparently trying again today but not feeling confident seeing as we!!!8217;re near lunchtime and have heard nothing. Anyone else just spend their days waiting and waiting then feeling emotionally exhausted by the weekend and crashing?
Sorry for the doom and gloom, normally quite a positive person!!0 -
I have no idea where all the !! And numbers are coming from ... not how I typed it so apologies!0

I'm just losing all the hope and the momentum, I can't even think of the tiny refurbishments I wanted to do or the furniture. And obviously, I'm starting to question the whole house buying idea, maybe it was a mistake in the first place :eek:GC £~~/3000 -

Don’t worry – you’re not alone – we’ve all been there. The complete lack of control, the impatience, not knowing what problem might come up next, constant chasing of mortgage provider, solicitor, or EA, and the constant conflicting stories you get from them. I’ve experienced it all, and yes I’ve thought about whether it is all worth it.
The whole process in England and Wales needs a fundamental rethink imo. It’s a miracle any property transactions happen in this country.
Try and find out from your EA or solicitor what the actual hold up is. Be specific – they love giving vague answers.0
