@MayMark someone in the chain has to kick off date negotiations, normally someone suggests something and there’s to and fro between solicitors and vendors. Once a date is agreed with all parties and solicitors confirm all is good to go from a legal perspective they look to exchange. We never set a date for exchange i just gave my solicitor written authority to exchange when the time came and I got a call one evening to say it had happened

    Good luck everyone!

My in-laws are also moving and exchanged on their old house tues, to complete next tues. Issue is their new house hasn't exchanged yet - Purple Bricks combined with slow sellers = nightmare. I am hoping to hear early next week about exchange dates but knowing my solicitor she already has them from sellers and is sitting on them!

Good luck to everyone today. My day has started with the washer/dryer dying and tripping the power when on at the wall. I have damp washing stuck inside, it is also the landlords machine.

Not the best start to the day!

    Thanks @BountyBlink
Our solicitor said they should have the local searches back by the weekend and they will be sending over the mortgage report shortly, I asked about closing of our HTB ISA but they said wait to see see how many enquiries she need to raise first. So not sure we will see our mortgage report soon!
Our solicitor came highly recommended and so far has been on it considering our offer was accepted on the 29/4 and only reason for any delays has been us nailing down a mortgage. (Glad those sleepless nights are over)
I’ve emailed our local land charges council to see when the local searches were completed. Thanks for that.
I can’t even imagine how I would be able to deal with this process in a chain so I thank our lucky stars we’re able to proceed quickly.
I worry that we will delay completion due to having to give notice on out apartment which is 4 weeks, We’re planning on doing that at exchange.
Happy Friday to everyone who’s exchanging and completing today!

Update from me, after a stressful few weeks and on day 5th day of giving my authority to exchange it finally happened yesterday, completing next Friday. Its all been so slow thanks to my buyers solicitor not communicating with anyone besides my buyer and that was few and far between and there was a language barrier. Besides packing and changing our address with lots of people what happens now? I haven't done this for 18 years so a bit out of touch.
Good luck to everyone wanting to exchange

My buyer's solicitor's out of office reply is switched on!! We are supposed to exchange today. 10 months of stress and she didn't even have the courtesy to tell my solicitor. Just hoping someone else can do the exchange instead.  :'(
