Bailey do start a separate thread on this.

if it’s not a new home a survey will always find things.  No house will be perfect and you should expect maintenance costs.

are they things that would have been obvious?  You may find they were already accounted for in the price, but always worth trying to negotiate.

but a more detailed bread will give you loads of advice.

Hope everyone has had a relaxing weekend and managed to get away from all things house moving! So draining, eh?!
We did another drive by this weekend, not seen the house for 6 months since we offered lol Just hoping that everything goes through now. This short term rental
is getting on all our nerves, zero inside space and no outside space. We also had to get something from the storage unit yesterday and it was quite emotional seeing all or furniture and items 😔 can’t wait to see it all in new house.
We called agent for an update on Friday but he has said he won’t chase until next week as the chain only formed a week before (yes we know that, but still would like to know) I’m still convinced we will get keys before end of June... I can feel it in my waters.
The top of chain had their survey last week, they are cash buyers and searches take 24 hours in our area so I’m hoping that the chain free vendors are motivated for their cash ASAP and also getting back to paperwork etc.
Will update on here as soon as we hear more! Here’s hoping to many more exchanges this week!!! 🤞🏻

    @BountyBlink...

I'm so so hoping it happens for you in June.. much deserved.

We are completing on tuesday after finally exchanging last week. We are both emotionally exhausted and kids a bit all over tje place with a holiday last week. My youngest kept asking "is this our new home"? in the holiday house...

Just hoping everything goes to plan.

9 months since selling our house, 8 months since having an offer accepted on a property and we've no end in sight. All the contractual paperwork has been sorted but we still have no agreed exchange/completion date. Our sellers have still to find a suitable rental property and now one of them is looking to buy a property and the other is renting. It looks like we are going to be in a chain and we will miss the stamp duty holiday end date and with a good chance of missing the next one in September as well.

We've been looking elsewhere but there have been so few properties of the size we're after come on the market and that has meant the asking prices have increased and they are snapped up at the asking price or higher. We've decided to wait it out as paying an increased price for a property added with having to fork out for additional fees doesn't make it seem worthwhile, even with now having to pay stamp duty.

Ah well, at least the weather is good!

I feel your pain and sympathize entirely. We had an offer accepted at a similar time and it took our sellers 4 months (we're first time buyers, so at least there is that). And I know exactly what you mean regarding the market at the moment - if we hadn't held on then we wouldn't be moving any time soon.

Luckily our sellers did eventually find somewhere and we're (hopefully) on track for later this month, but who knows at this point.

I hope things work out for you soon.

@BountyBlink...I was meant to be working tomorrow but working from home and with movers around, I've asked my boss if I can not work this week. Starting to feel excited now I know I have a week to move and get organised!
